This is real politics...

People should not underestimate the power of Online forums - both for good and bad.

This is a sound board and we should be able to speculate: all the parties involved will also be speculating on what our reactions will be.

We are not political sheep who should just wait until election time; because by election time the die would have been cast. And that is the politic in this country or in major democracies.

The electorate tend to rubber-stamp whatever the political masters want - and that is even more the case where there is very little difference in the political parties - and I apply that analogy to the Unions and RM. The two parties are in a face-saving mode and a strike is no longer an option.

The idea that we shall vote to reject the deal will be even more painful than the waiting so far.

When so-called "union men" start slagging off their colleagues with puerile comments the argument is more or less lost from the start.
People are entitled to post their opinions,their thoughts,their worries and their fears on here because it's a non-partisan open discussion forum.

So you think the union did a good job on with 2010 agreement?

Your not concerned that the same is going to happen this time ie we get a pay increase but delivery staff still get the shitty end of the stick, with deliveries too long for the working day and managers bullying staff to complete?

This is my gripe that the union seem to ignore these problems because it's easier to get the pay increase, plus they don't seem to of moved on with the rest of the world re communicating with it's members who pay there wages.

Where the union has failed in its communication is in telling delivery staff exactly what its aims are with the delivery talks.
I'm not sure that the negotiators and the membership have the same ideas on what are delivery "issues".
I think if the membership has got it into their collective heads that there will be a radical shift in Royal Mail's position on deliveries they may be in for a very big disappointment.

Surely the unions aims should of been based on what it's members wishes are rather than what those at the top table think it's members want.

If they f**k this up people will leave in droves, leaving a union with no clout and drastically less income from subs.

They won't be that bothered, TNT posties will probably fill the gap. Or attempt too.

Unlikely. Standard subs are about half-an-hour's wage for a TNT postie, Which is a lot of money, on a zero-hours contract

Had our WTL today the usual blah blah your all thick RMTV stuff, but what was interesting was when it was announced on RMTV the talks where being extended to the 27th November. (pretty sure it said the 27th i tend to turn my brain off during WTL another lad in the office was also swearing it said 27th)
So it means RM knew on Monday or over the weekend that once again the talks are being extended for them to have time to make the little flash thing and put it on the server etc, I thought the last 7 days was the final extension? also if true it's unlikely we would be able to strike before x-mas is over you just start to get that feeling that RM are just continuing to extend it repeatedly until after that time.
I'm hoping I'm wrong and it was just my half asleep brain making me see things as it starting to verge on the ridiculous considering this has been going on since April.
