As for FT and TBT I respect your arguements as always well put and well thought out (unlike some ). However I still disagree on many points, in particular the extra cost for one conference to cover all. Surely the expense of hiring a separate function room, additional costs and expenses (assuming these delegates attend both the womens conference AND the general one) are greater than these matters taking up half a day in the general meeting?

Good news on the maternity leave as I was not aware of that and it's the first bit of equality we as men have had for a long time, which makes a nice change!

Now I just need to unchain my girlfriend from the kitchen sink and get her knocked up so I can get 6 months off work!!! (this is a joke grannysmith so no need to get off your broomstick and respond thanks!

Do you need to be a woman to attend the Women's Conference ?
I only ask because I might have women's interests at heart more than some women themselves do.

Whilst I think that Eqaulity and Women's conferences do bring more involvement from women and other minorities and does allow for issues to be debated which simply would not get heard at a two day conference , I do have concerns.

I have been too a number of these conferences and there are often a number of the same activists who attend them , often the same motions are debated and often the issues which are referred to the general conference are concerning the make up of the advisory committees.

I still believe we should have one equal opportunities conference rather than Several different conferences such as Black Workers , Women's , Disability and LGBT conference.

Now in terms of issues being heard at conference , every CWU region must have a women's motion submitted and conference is time slotted. However some of the most prominent speakers at General Conference were women.

My concern is that I want the issues debated where everyone can hear them , time slotted within general conference. As I believe separate conferences hold back Indivduals almost ghettos are created when we as a whole in the CWU should be listening to the issues.
