I didn't suggest that Bloody Sunday was something the British Army should be ashamed off but likewise I'm sure you don't claim it's anything they're proud of.
And with 26 unarmed civil-rights protesters and bystanders shot by soldiers of the British Army our Prime Minister surely didn't need await conclusions of an enquiry before apologising.
I totally agree with TBT that "you could have Truth Trials like they did/do in South Africa, in fact a peace organisation that operates on both sides of the divide has suggested this regularly" and with DGP that "it's over, it's finished, we don't want to go back to those days, it really needs to be left for historians now and not used by politicians to try to score points with some small section of the electorate."
A lot of us who were there in the 70's will never forget and nor would I want to,I dispute the fact about unarmed civil rights protesters and still think the Army was justified.
For we were soldiers once, and young

Depends on which part of Britain you stay in,myself from central Scotland will always see and hear the hatred, will in fact continue long after my life.Don't think the historians and polititions will solve the matter,as this has been going back Centuries and will still do in Centuries coming.
I wish that i am wrong though as i would like too see anmd end to this matter.Easily said than done when the past decades seen thousands killed or maimed,so how can they and there familys forget about it.
The Americans use to say forget about it.But,that was before Bin Laden and his multicrew showde them what it feels too bombed in there own yard.

If Paisley and McGuinness can sit together and indeed work together then anything is possible, yes there will always be to idiots who can't leave the past in the past but they're out numbered by the ordinary who hold the real power.

What has that to do with anything? He joined government with Sinn Fein to bring about normalisation of this country and I think, even with all the things he did in the past, he deserves some respect and not a flippant comment about him clinging onto life.
He left the First Minister roles several years ago but he did start it (the Chuckle brothers).

I have been to NI before and after the ceasefire, there is a big difference, if we are to truly move on, the IRA and UFF etc will have to stop raking up old coals, the bloody Sunday Inquiry is doing just that and going nowhere, while demanding compo and soldiers prosecuted, they conveniently forget that they are not the only victims, there were many on both sies who have suffered grieviously and is ignored by the media, I remember seeing one TV interview of a local resident in NI who said that Loyalist Prisoners shouldn't be freed as part of the good Friday agreement, the reporter asked does that also apply to the Republican prisoners as well ? she didn't have a reply to that.

The fact that Ian Paisley and Martin Guinness were able to have a good working relationship and able having a laugh with each other was completely unthinkable 20 yeas ago, it shows how far we have come.

All inquiries etc needs to be closed down and replaced with a South African style truth and reconciliation commission for everybody including soldiers and former serving soldiers.
