We have these in the Learning Centre at Mount Pleasant. It is a number of courses - basic IT, more advanced IT courses,
Spanish, English, and others (I'm not sure of all of them). They are learnt from computer programmes - there are about 20 pcs in the learning Centre, with a tutor to guide you.
They usually last 6 months I think. The lessons are generally 2 hours per week. Participants are given 1 hour off their duty, and the other hour is in their own time.

And they are open to our Delivery staff too.

This is probably the Union at its radical best, transforming lives through education, yet so few people seem to know anything about it.

YES ....CLASh 199% agree remember the trade unions were founded on educating the ordinary man the union Learning REPS have better rights than our IR reps

That sounds like a great enticement, and the way it should be.

As far as i'm aware, the only time off we get at GMC is when we're initially shown how to logon, then after that it's all our own time.

Hi. Someone please keep this thread updated on a regular basis!! I've been waiting for years to see these b**t**ds get what was coming to them. Even though I only know the name of two of them, I can guess who else was involved. It's just a shame that some of the more senior crooks, who left Glasgow for HQ posts, have either retired or died!!

Well .......the rumour mill is in full swing regarding the "suspensions" here in GMC apparentley everybody will be returning to work on monday except AW that investgation is still pending .........so when are we going to hear the truth about all this ?? is it a whitewash ??

Silence is Golden i wonder how many of those suspended will be promoted or given specials for keeping it zipped in the coming months.They had them all by the short and curlys but they wriggled free.I suppose the investigating team were told to back off or else the final number suspended would have been measured in the Hundreds

So basically no-one is being punished? They'll all be back at work after having a nice long break, probably on full pay. What a joke. What about the whistleblower? Where's he/she?

AKA .. Another whitewash of blame and corruption, and the whistleblower more than llikely been made out to be some kind of storyteller.

RM don't have a uniformly applied disciplinary procedure, it's multi-layered, and the enforcement degrades as the job level increases. If that was our workers in that situation we'd have been tarred, feathered and P45'd well before this .. never mind getting off scot free.

Prime example of this is the night shift at GMC, where 5 people were handed their notice. The manager in charge knew it was going on, done bugger all, and now 5 guys have lost their job .. why not the manager?

Well stewie these 5 guys did do wrong ....but did they deserve to be booted for what they did? They knew the score ..didnt they ? forget the manager just now these guys all did something stupid and whoever did the printing signed a disclaimer saying they wouldnt be thick enough to do something so childish and stoopid and the end result would end up with possible dismissal ..........BUT i do believe the management were a bit heavyhanded with this one i would expect them to win their appeal .........So what about the other incident on the back/night shift when certain individuals were asked to CLEAN out all the Alts and refused then management proceeded to bully and harass only one of the lads ..then .....they suspended him WITHOUT pay ..and oif that wasnt enough they threaten him with the POLICE ....!!! LISTEN stewie if the big man gets any sort of reprimand do you think we sould be WALKIN???...and they are pummeling us with this bloody "friends like these "video anyway what you think...personally with this incident i blame World Class Mail.....
