Strange really that postmen and women are considered middle class twerps. A few things I would like to comment about.

1. Its dangerous to generalise about anything. However I suppose some will always do that, put people into their own niches and boxes and not allow for, as with most things in life, that some are good and some are bad. I always say don't take a view on a group, take a view on an individual.

2. Most of the active members in my local DO are SWP members, and I do not count myself in that as at present I am unaffiliated to any political party, but I am leaning towards the Greens. So they can hardly all be classed as middle class twerps.

3. The SWP is classed as a revolutionary party even by themselves so using the workers as pawns in "the class struggle" is hardly news its the reason they exist. Which is why I wont ever affiliate with them, however is does not mean that we should just dismiss their views and policies just because we don't like their main aims

That's just it me old Bell, he was there for his own little party's ends. The hardship the strikers were suffering was immaterial.

That's a pretty sad comeback there Bell. I thought you had more about you than that... :hmmmm

No strike breakers here though. Our sections have always been solid in any IA, unlike some much larger RM departments and grades, apparently......

I'm not going to go look through your 610 post history, but having been on RMC for a while now I've got to know the attitudes and personalities of the regular posters. As much as one can on an internet forum anyway. And vice versa, you could probably make a reasonably accurate guess of me.
Thing is, you are always openly contemptuous of unions and union members. especially of union members who take industrial action. Well so what ? I dont particularly care much what you think, but it's a bit hypocritical to one minute be union-bashing and the next to say you've been on a picket line.
Just spilt stain-remover down my shirt. Now how do I get that out?

Think you've hit the nail on the head there and picked out the key difference. My expectations regarding the level of your contributions here are extremely low ,yet you never fail to disappoint , well done :chuckle

This thread has all the hallmarks of a beaten, disillusioned fighting spirit that is no more. As always, nothing better to do than turn on itself, or even the union. Not much left is there. Me thinks Mandy will wipe the floor on this without even getting out of breath.

Nope, I haven't a clue about you. Are you someone important?
Thing is, you are always openly contemptuous of unions and union members. especially of union members who take industrial action.
You've got it wrong and you're thinking of someone else then. Not, and never have been "contemptuous of unions and union members". I'm very critical of the CWU and it's dinosaur-like attitudes, but I've always been a union member (not necessarily the CWU) and have every regard for the union concepts.

Well so what ? I dont particularly care much what you think, but it's a bit hypocritical to one minute be union-bashing and the next to say you've been on a picket line.
So what indeed. Still, I've never crossed a picket line or gone in on IA, and there's a few thousand posties who can't say that.... :whistle Are you one of them? Tell the truth now..... ;liar

Why, is the SWP synonymous with posties, then?
Most of the active members in my local DO are SWP members,

The key word being "active" I suppose? Or are you confusing members who regard themselves as socialists with those who actually are SWP members? Or just exaggerating for effect?

Ludicrous logic there Judge. On that daft premise, the BNP would be acceptable too... :arrrghhh

I agree, Bell. Far too much going on in RM these days to be worried about how many students still have that Che poster on the wall.
