We need to see if anyone who contributes to this forum who was off sick last week gets a normal weeks' pay this week. To see if, as I suspect it is, this whole saga is a few rogue managers trying it on, to 'deter' people from throwing a sickie during the current hostilities.
We shouldn't have long to wait to check if deductions are being made.
Payslips are available to view as early as Wednesday in the People app.
But surely, if anyone who is currently on long-term sick suddenly started getting 4/5ths or even 3/5ths of their regular pay when the 1-day and then 2-day strikes kicked-in, wouldn't we have had them or a friend of theirs come on here and start asking WTF is going on???
If we let managers start, in essence, deciding which sick is genuine and which isn't, despite a doctor's note, then we really need to hit them hard for illegal withholding of wages

You can actually view them from about 4.30pm/5pm on a Tuesday on the app. If you don’t have or don’t want the app you can also sign up on the government website to view all your income/tax stuff and again you can see that weeks wages a similar time on the Tuesday.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.
So the docking of wages will start from this week.
It is a real policy and it is happening been told last night, you won't be paid if you go sick before or after strike days.
(Up until now it was only calling in sick on the strike day that was denied payment)
My guess is sickness absence has shot right up nationally and people are using it as a means to get paid for strike days especially the "2 days in one week" strikes we are currently performing. And it is getting close to xmas so people dont want to lose the money.

I can see their point regards conveniently calling in morning of a two day strike then miraculously feeling better and going back to work after the strike just to get paid for striking ( although if you have broken every strike day you probably have a case of unfair treatment). However if you ring in sick before work on the morning prior to a strike day and are off sick for 4 days, you should get paid 2 full days sick pay, surely?

Fair play. Why should the company pay people when they wouldn’t be getting paid anyway?
If they can’t afford to lose money then they should go into work.
Blame nobody but the folk abusing the system. Another reason why that particular term and condition is being revised.

From what i gather it is being heavily abused (in order to get paid for the double strike days), so they are moving on it nationally from yesterday.
I asked if there is an official breifing and my manager said "no strangely" but i expect we will get one today sometime.

What i heard is that they are not accepting self cert only GP notes or "some" pre-existing medical conditions.
I've seen this tried before elsewhere and they will soon drop it like a hot potato when the complaints from GP's besieged by RM workers demanding sicknotes from day 1 start coming in, GP's really don't like that and will get straight on the phone.

Has there been an official communication, in writing, from the relevant Royal Mail spokesperson? I haven’t seen it.
Let’s put it like this: If someone goes sick tomorrow, and has pay deducted next week, yet someone who is currently on long-term sick does NOT have pay deducted next week, then in effect Royal Mail are making the presumption that the person on long-term sick would have broken the strike had they not been ill.
Both people are off sick. One gets paid, one doesn’t. An easily-proved case of discrimination.
I don’t believe these managers saying this are telling the truth.
If a manager told me it’s freezing outside, I’d put a t-shirt, shorts and flip-flops on
