Cycle 2 work scheme

Got my letter of collection worth £400 and reserved a bike online worth £460, went to collect the bike only to be told that I can't add any money from my own pocket to pay for the bike. I'm paying for it regardless! Can anyone help me on this matter as to wat I do next? Thanks

If you're close enough to a "Leisure lakes" bikes shop, try your luck in there (they accepted my LOC about 4 years ago, probably still do, but ring them first).
they have a much better bike selection, and as previously suggested, they also sell older models at a much reduced rate.

you could also contact the cycle2work team, as you haven't used your LOC yet, ask if you can return it, and replace it with a higher value one.

Contacted the cycle2work team this morning who in return reverted me back to HR who were as useful as a handbrake on a kayak! They won't let me select a higher value LoC as I've already signed for the £400 one. Nor will they allow me to add on another LoC to the value of £60. Stuck in a pickle!

Did you ask about cancelling it?

Yeah I asked about cancelling the whole thing but as I've signed the hire agreement it cannot be cancelled. I really can't see what the big issue is all about, I mean I'm the one who's gonna be out of pocket not Halfords nor Royal Mail

This is your last opportunity to decide "am I sure I want to enter into the Cycle2Work scheme and enjoy the tax and NI savings available?" Please remember you are making a commitment to 18 months or 78 weeks of hire payments and should be employed by Royal Mail Group during the full hire period.

If the answer is Yes, do nothing. Simply sit back and wait, you have done everything you need to do

If the answer is No, please act immediately! Send the cancellation form enclosed to Halfords Cycle2work advising them that you wish to cancel the Hire Agreement and do not want to participate in Cycle2work. You have to act within 7 days of receiving your letter or your Hire Agreement becomes irrevocable and you will be committed to all the hire payments.

Yeah mate I already have the LoC and as I've signed everything and the cooling off period is over, the agreement stands. It's just a pity that you can't add money to the voucher, or C2W to issue another LoC for the outstanding balance required

A leisure lakes bikes is opening directly in front of my house, so a Loc for me, and see what deal i can muster, is their a time period in which the Loc becomes invalid? Ie, if their is nothing i want for a while will it still be valid in say 3 months?

Has anyone tried to get one of these recently? I applied on July 6th, I got my contract on the 19th, which I signed and sent back the same day. By Thursday 1st of August I'd heard nothing back, so I phoned up to see what was going on. I was told they never received my contract back and would not be able to proceed until they had a signed contract. I was told I would be emailed another copy to sign and email back, as of today I'm still waiting for the email. Just wondered if anyone else is having problems?

I sent my contract out Monday and they have received it, I was told they will email me with my loc next Thursday. Didn't you get 2 copies? 1 to keep, I would just post that off to them.

It seems to me that this is could be a problem if someone does change their mind as the "cooling off" period could be somewhat buggered, as the LoC will arrive via an email next Friday, and if you do change your mind prior to getting the LoC will they, RM, actually acknowledge any form of communication you use to cancel it? The speed at which they work doing this makes me wonder.

I know some people think £500 is plenty for a bike, well yeh it is for a kid for Xmas or if you are using it for leisure or live a few minutes from your office. I live over 12 miles from my office, that us 24 miles a day five times a week. Some serious mileage along with having to take on britains appalling pitted road edges that we ride on. You need at least £1000 plus for a half decent bike for serious transport. It is still a small amount considering the money it saves in petrol plus what price on the environment, also it will last better in the long run and cost less in maintenance. Many other cycle2work schemes give up to £1500.

As i say £500 was enough in 2007 when the scheme started. Back in 2007 the components on the bikes where far superior, and to beat inflation they have had to decrease the the quality every year since. You would need at least £600 voucher now to be the equivalent to £500.

I completely agree,they should up it too £1000 with you having the option to pay some up front as well,it can't be that complicated to arrange.
