WTLL Managers brief : Thinking about our future

Post by Celgar »

Sounds like they plan to lose the 8000 posties over four years via not replacing staff, moving posties to other offices where there are shortages, and offering some early redundancies.
Sounds like they want to increase the 'resource to workload' technology so maybe start changing the hours we work at short notice.
The views I express here are mine alone and do not represent the views of Royal Mail Group.

So does this mean all offices will get another revision and re-pick of duties if they scrap say 1in6 deliveries? Seems it would affect a big percentage of every office.

That would assume that the new tools mean such a thing as "a duty" still exists.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I don't want to give the Impression that I'm Not f***ing Interested (NFI) but I find it very hard to get excited about any of the RM Announcements. :speak to the hand Apart from being a Natural Cynic I believe that Managers are paid to MANAGE, and those further up the Food Chain have been employed to sort this Mess Out. It's all above my pay grade.... don't go expecting me to sort your problems out. :no no

As previously mentioned, over the years the Management have bought in loads of stupid ideas, that they were told wouldn't work. They have been inundated with good, sensible, ideas from Posties... That they Ignored. They've been re-inventing the wheel for so long they haven't got a clue what they should be doing. And then they turn around and try and land a Guilt Trip on us.... No Way. :so there

As for bending over backwards to help RM "improve their customer experience" think about those Steel Workers who agreed to take a Wages Cut, and a Reduction in Pension, in good faith to try and help out .... and they still got shafted! :cuppa

It's not wise to write this information on the forum as DOMs are expected to do some kind of WTLL activity every week and there are repercussions if it isn't being done. Best not to say anything if your office is not doing it.
Why not - it's the manager's fault not the postie's. Don't forget they're then using the time for COMPULSORY WTLL for delivery or for
what you stated in another post is the expectation to bank the hours from an early finish on Tuesday to use later in the week........

Spot On. :thumbup I can never understand why Posties moan everytime they say "Everyone in the Rest Room for WTLL". It's Budgetted for and you get a chance for a sit down and a cup of Tea. It's probably the only occasion when everyone's together and can air their views. Although it does bother me that so many colleagues have nothing to offer in these sessions. You know they've got a problem that needs sorting but they seem unable to bring it up. I suppose no everyone has the confidence, or inclination. It's a shame that we have to listen to the same Gobshites every week moaning about how hard done by THEY are! :Boo hoo! I'd like to see the Unit Rep using this opportunity to highlight things like taking Meal Relief & Working Properly. He's not very Pro-Active though. :cuppa

Good point my friend, same in our office, after watching the actors do there bit on rmtv,we should be addressing local issues in the unit,ie real stuff that matters,I guess many are just deluded by everything and can’t be bothered and then make there gripe after the meeting, like all managers he has his brief and doesn’t deviate from it one bit,
