So the CWU are meeting on Thursday do they have to give two weeks notice then?.

No - they don't HAVE to, but they can if they want.

All they have to do is inform Royal Mail 2 weeks in advance of any strike action, and what type it is, and how long for.

They can give the 2 weeks notice at any time within 6 months of the ballot IIRC.

Will they wait till Black Friday for strikes as that's our biggest posting day and it gives them time for talks?

hope the team leader and every one else who had input in the many slogans and the continuous barrage of reverse physiology and straight up lies are rewarded for there efforts.

a 89.1 percentage yes vote is truly unheard of, well done ladies and gents for voting.

it is we the workforce that do a job no one in the industry does, no one in the uk deliver mail, d2d's, parcels , collections from postboxes , special delivery's before 9am/1pm , it is we the workforce that keeps the wheels rolling.

We the workforce are royalmail it is we the post people that are the true face of royal mail and it is we the postpeople who can grind the wheels to a hault.

Most posties and I include myself in this, don't want to hurt the profits, dividends and share price. We want our concerns addressed fairly, and ideally without strike action. However, we do recognise that those items will suffer as well as Royal Mails reputation when and if we do strike, but they aren't the reason we will be striking, they are merely the collateral damage.

The people have spoken. The Union speaks the truth to us that the company has been selling us short. Short on pensions, short on 'flexibility' and short of informing us all of WHY we really need to change the pipeline.

The thing about black friday or the days after it is, just think how amazon send thousands of parcels to us that they and probably other couriers cant handle, us striking round that time and the weeks upto xmas wont just affect royal mail it could cause problems with yodel etc. Trying to take our business then breaking under the strain. Moya will want/need to sort this sharpish or shes history

It means the workforce is willing to go on strike. How does that mean s**t?
RM are obviously concerned about industrial action as they have just had a propaganda campaign North Korea would have been proud of.
They know strikes will be damaging to the business. Postal workers also know this and yet they still felt that it is a lower risk strategy than just rolling over like puppy dogs.

A delay until late November before any strike action would make sense.

1) Obviously it gives time for more talks, and hopefully a resolution.
2) A delay creates uncertainty. Uncertainty will create pressure by shareholders for the business to find a resolution.
3) Commencing strike action at Royal Mail's most important time of the year will maximise its impact, both to the business and to the public at large.
