Space the answer too your points :
1 The customer pays for a D2D drop it has nothing to do with them whether it is collated or not. There is already a trail in Swindon regarding the collation of D2D and as Walsall is an important trail for Royal Mail the twelve walks get their D2D items collated.
2. There is a growing support from senior managers that due to our high terms and conditions compared to other D2D providers and other parcels providers did you see the Guardian report on Hermes the second biggest parcel delivery providers ? Some in Royal Mail would like to outsource the D2D product so it can be done cheaper. Moya Greene often quotes that when she went into B&Q a couple of postal workers who was working in their as extra approach her. She also sights that many postal workers supplement their weekly Royal Mail wage by working elsewhere including mini cabbing or uber. She has tried to say why would we not offer them extra work for Royal Mail but on either an OPGs existing wage or overtime rates ie price per item etc so it than is cheaper to do various services such as D2D.
3. Wolverhampton Mail centre always done one wave to Walsall , what Royal Mail have done is to tray it for those 12 walks. It happens now.
4. Ok let's explain this , remember Royal Mail's aim is get the large letter sequencing machines which were successfully trailed in the Exeter catchment area and it virtually removed all the IPS apart from parcels. But in the interim there would be an IPS of manual items however say you had 60 prep frames and now that you do not put either your already sequenced Mail items into the frame or your d2d or your small parcels as you have a mini York than your prep time on frames will not take so long. Royal Mail than will say than that Walks 1-30 can come in say 0700 and use 30 frames once they finish this than they change the fillets over and the next 30 walks get done on the same frames but by starting later or if it is a double prep duty they than throw up the part time walk. This will mean Royal Mail under phase 1 of their delivery strategy will be able to remove 30 prep frames !
5. This is not about the Mail centre having a break down or bull rings for parcels it is about a delivery office doing this. Remember again in the future parcels will be automated and with a bar code so every parcel will be recorded. This is about a delivery office performing a bull ring for parcels. The 12 walks of Wasall perform this now.
Look all your criticisms and questions and beliefs that Royal Mail's ideas are flawed are the same as the CWU which is why after 15 months the CWU have limited Royal Mail's desire to move to one wave to 12 walks in Wasall who were already getting one wave before the actual due to be serviced by the Mail centres ILSM. This is why the union have rejected any extension of the trail , rejected the vest etc.
However you can imagine the Hawks in Royal Mail are getting stronger and they believe that a footsie one hundred company should not allow the union to veto their delivery strategy plans so the drum beat to a battle at some stage is coming especially with the pension statement drawing nearer !

If I were the boss of a company that sent out d2d there's no way that I would want my d2d inside an envelope, it would never get looked at

If d2d were outsourced, how long would it be before the company doing it decides to try and win the business of d2d from RM
3. Wolverhampton Mail centre always done one wave to Walsall , what Royal Mail have done is to tray it for those 12 walks. It happens now.
One wave is never going to work, DOs would be getting their sequenced mail 11:00 at the very earliest, some might be looking at 13:00 or even later on a busy day. Once the mail picks up again in the autumn you'd be looking at over an hour per batch and there'd probably be too much mail on a machine to do double batching. To have any chance of working all **final** collections would need to be at least a couple of hours earlier, which will never happen

If RM go over to one wave then that won't work, the 2nd lot of walks would be looking at maybe 14:00 before they could prep them

We're a very long way away from all parcels being barcoded and even then you'll still get all the parcels for a DO together. You'll still have to sort them in a DO to the walks

It doesn't matter what the hawks think, it's the union's decision to legitimise their position with joint statement after joint statement that is allowing the business the opportunity to implement these plans and drive a wedge between individual members and HQ.
Maybe it's time for the union to stop being a facilitator for change and we let them see what happens to a delivery strategy when you try to implement it without engaging the workforce, see how many hawks are left standing...do you or indeed HQ have the bottle for that or are we going to see another fudge and one of those embarrassing "Royal Mail wanted this and that and they only got that so it could have been worse" speeches.

This is a bizarre thread I give you an update something no other person is currently doing !! Than I get a load of stick and than we get expects saying why this or that can't be done.
Well guess what Royal Mail believe they can.
Guess what the CWU are stopping them !
Hence a Mexican stand off ! Until someone makes a move !
Dvbuk sorry for the spelling mistakes eyes and I phones don't always work.
Fish I agree there are too many joint statements ! However there is a risk with what you say too allow Royal Mail to go too other places in the hope they get members who will show the company that there ideas are flawed what if some don't ? Let's be clear some offices do seem to accept worst than others where does that leave us !
Personally I believe we need to draw a line in the sand and say that this is what we want and this is what we are not going to accept if the company don't like that than we are going to ballot the membership ! The risk to that is a no vote the risk to the company is huge !
Now fankly I let others continue to have pops at us who try and keep people updated !

Hey dingo don't take it to heart, there's no malice intended and no apology necessary. You may not know but I have been retired for quite some time and an old man easily gets bored. If an apology is necessary it is on my part for being facetious unnecessarily, mea culpa.dingo wrote:Dvbuk sorry for the spelling mistakes eyes and I phones don't always work.!

I have and believe me I only lasted a week or two. They were 10 hour four day night shifts and it was then pretty non-stop and bloody hard work. My union rep persuaded me to go on the machines with him and two others, I was over 65 then and it was too much for me. People might think it's easy but it certainly isn't. Incidentally the rep has actually just taken VR at aged 52 after 4 years on the machines.SpacePhoenix wrote:Have you ever worked on an iLSM or a CSS?dingo wrote:This is a bizarre thread I give you an update something no other person is currently doing !! Really? Must be that secret instruction file they give to operators when they've completed the week's training then?
What's next, two years minimum laying bricks before you can design houses?

Once you've worked on them for a while you get to know what's doable and what's not. I'm guessing that you've never worked on eitherTman wrote:Really? Must be that secret instruction file they give to operators when they've completed the week's training then?
