What do you do if you've applied for a Christmas job and you keep getting e-mails detailing vacancies, but when you apply as instructed, you get informed that you have already applied for this position and told to log out?
Have I been turned down for a job, or is this application process faulty? It's nearly time for Christmas 2016 applications and I haven't got a start this year.

ive just gotten a position at a mail centre but ive just applied for my N.I number i haven't gotten it yet but on my I.D card ive been given one by royal mail it seems I want to know if i will be charged emergency tax or if they charge tax at all and if so what percentage of my pay would it be. (I was told by aformer casual that they do not charge tax for casuals is this true ? thanks)

Emergency tax is only applied at the 20% rate for earnings above £10,600. Depending on circumstances they only charge you tax when your are expected to earn that amount, or actually do so. Each persons circumstances are different.

I don't know if you'll be charged tax because I don't know how much you have already earned, or if you are going to earn more than £10,600. You are definitely better off talking to the tax office as they'll be able to give you more personalised advice.

The former casual is mistaken. On basic rate tax you don't pay tax until you are expected to, or have earned more than the tax-free allowance. Your type of contract has no bearing on this at all.

your paid a week in arrears
1st weeks pay at the end of the 2nd week.
2nd weeks pay at the end of third week and so on
So you will not get paid the first week of work.

And don't hold your breath expecting them to get it right 1st payday either. Our 1st pay due tomorrow but no payslip on doormat today, so anticipating the canteen voucher plus £50 giro for a sub as per ******* usual.
