Apologies upfront, I am not a union member and have gone a little 'Off Piste' looking at a thread in the union room, however...
Seems to me the whole business of picking weeks for holiday time which can be as far off as 15 months away is all about school holidays, everyone can request changes to their entitlement at a later date and so availability of weeks changes all the time. I use all six weeks for holiday abroad and use a time share exchange programme for accommodation which needs a good twelve months notice, so if I went along with the 'picking procedure' in our office it could prove to be a problem, I put it in writing well in advance, get it to HR and if they cannot confirm my weeks to enable me to book flights I phone head office, I forget the number but it's in Courier specifically for HR issues. All this nonsense about seniority is just that, a load of nonsense, everyone should have the opportunity to have the weeks they want regardless of how long they have been employed by Royal Mail. Take it up with your rep if you want, seems to be the suggestion on this thread but I wouldn't bother, written confirmation and a few stern words down the phone should do the job, stand up for yourself!

With respect, mail centres are more flexible places than delivery offices... Resourcing at a MC can never be compared to a delivery office. At the very worst, you folks can use casuals or even get delivery staff to come in on OT.

You way works because you are one of the few using it; if I were you, I will keep it to myself...
