Really you don't know what a Forum Administrator is. Well if you had read my posts you'll see that most of them fall into various categories.

Posting News stories that I think would be of interest to Royal Mail and Post Office staff.
Posting Various LTBs and Union announcements, and Royal Mail ones as well.
Moderating disputes between RMC members.
Posting guidance on how we expect members to behave.
Offering advice to Customers and Colleagues.
Posting links to documents and sites that contain information members are looking for.
Posting my own opinions and viewpoints. <<<<< sorry about that.

As to posting "Ad nauseam" that is the point of an Online Forum isn't it.

Here is some advice, there is a system within the User Control Panel called "Friends and Foes", if you don't wan't to read my posts then add me as a Foe and you won't have to read them any-more, but its not like we are forcing you is it.

Hope you stay and join in even if this is the last post of mine you read.

However your viewpoint is that we should stick up for the disgruntled colleagues, and I don't completely disagree with that, however in my view, and my original question was simply why does everyone act like it's the worst job in the world? And no body has really answered that, all I hear is that the management are jerks and the future of royal mail is not looking great.

Go into almost any other job and I'm sure the management are the same jerks and some people are facing redundantcy. Sure that may be a possibility for us but for some it's a matter of fact, not a possibility.

We are paid well, with good hours and a healthy job, we should be thankful not acting like snobs.

Sorry if you think I am stereotyping military people - but that was kind of my point. Your stereotyping posters on here as moaners who hate the job. Yet I and others have posted repeatedly that they think the job is the best had and agree its well paid.

As to answering why people act like its the worst job, well everyone does its human nature. I have not meant a single person, ever, who was entirely happy about their job and everyone loves the chance to moan (even about others moaning ). If people didn't moan RMC would be very quiet so I hope they keep complaining and letting off steam, and I hope you keep finding stuff to post about as well.

I do not understand how people say they get home with no energy to play with the kids etc etc... If that is the case you are simply in poor shape/unfit.I have plenty of energy left to play with my kids,do a bit of housework,sometimes i cook sometimes the wife(tries) cooks,when kids have gone to bed and everything settles down then i do feel ready for bed but it is a nice feeling knowing i have done a decent amount of exercise.I have never slept as good! I have gone from 13 stone to 12 stone(all fat) And i even do a workout 4 times a week for strength training.I am 35 so i can understand if people alot older get very tired but most of the time it comes down to lifestyle and diet choices to be honest,NOT the job.

This job is not that demanding, i worked on a building site for 15 years and that was much,much harder on the body than this is,this job feels like a warmup for my workouts when i get home! I work with a guy who is 44 years old and a keen cyclist and he enters races and rides every day after work and he never complains about feeling tired.it is because he is physically fit.So stop moaning and making out it is the job that is killing you

And yes this is the nest job i have had,love being outside,love the exercise,love the variety of working in office in morning and then getting out in the fresh air.The money is good in my opinion especially in this climate,the hours are bloody fantastic especially for a family man like myself.Not enough positive things on this forum it is all doom and gloom.

I moan about the job...but I don't think its the worst job in the world, my gripe with the business is the attitude of some managers who are determined to 'bring into line' employees who they think have failed to 'tow the line', a perfect example of this is not wanting to do overtime, another is failure to absorb (even though your contracted hours would be in excess)

There's also the small matter of failure to adhere to agreements, in a post revision office I was of the understanding when a full timer left a part timer was offered the chance to be made up... but more part timers are recruited.


I have worked in several industries and I think trevjims right.. you do get the jerk managers. However, not one of these other jerk managers has once accused me of being a trouble maker for not wanting to work over my contracted hours, neither as one of these other jerk managers continued to deny me annual leave when requested.

I think we are paid good money... but its not healthy in the respect of it being a happy workforce, maybe if it was it would be more productive.

TBH I am impressed by your fitness and lifestyle as it sounds like your doing all the right things. To lose a stone in weight is very commendable, well done that’s a achievement , good luck and glad its working.

Its not always about lifestyle of fitness although that does play some part. As fish said you have completed 2 months in fair weather which tbh is nothing in this job.

If the job still exists try 10, 15, 20 years and the stress and strain will add up. If you continue to exercise outside the job most likely you will endure some kind of injury which you will find impossible to mend whilst walking 10 miles a day, this will lead to taking time off sick and you wont believe the hassle, most crack and leave.

I once knew a regional cyclist who had at one point tried out for the Olympic team. He was around mid 30’s and incredibly fit and lean. The job crippled him within 4 years and he was medically retired, he could no longer cycle either.
