How many managers at your office?

On a normal day, how many managers work(haha work!) at your office?

We never have less than 3 except on a Saturday where we have 1-2. Often we have 4. Sometimes even 5 for some reason.

Why oh why do we have so many? 2 managers max is all you need.

I agree far to many, we have far to many acting managers which receive no training what so ever so become loose canons within the office,it drives you nuts and i have never heard so much rubbish spouted either.

We had a temp manager in today that just stood there yawning and looking at his mobile phone. Ate one point he even shut the office door and was on the company phone to his mates.

Usually we have about six or seven, but sometimes we only have to contend with War (the new DOM), Famine (a skinny streak of piss), Pestilence (Mr. personal hygiene problems) and Death (not far from retiring).

Just out of curiosity, how many work in the office. Posties I mean, not managers, as we know how many of them work. Zero. Ever.

If you look at it another way...if they are good,well trained professional managers then the more the better.

But they're not.
Too many of Royal Mail's front line managers are either the worst kind of ex-posties with absolutely no management training or experience...or they are parachuted in from non-ops roles with absolutely no front line experience and no management training or experience.
The overall people skills of operational managers in Royal Mail is off the scale abysmal.

That's not just on the lower rungs of management it's all the way up through the levels.
They have been talking about upskilling their managers for 10 years and if anything it's gotten worse.

Being a useless shite of a bully seems to be a badge of honour in this business where it should be an embarrassment to the company and a fast ticket to the dole queue for the manager.

Well said,they are nothing more than a glorified supervisors,no man management skill and no clue to what goes on in the real world,the sooner they stop thinking that the postman/women is just a useless piece of garbage,i get annoyed that a lot of these managers look down their nose at us like they are something special.

I've really wanted to jack the whole job in.........spiteful, bullying arseholes that should'nt even be allowed to run a bath let alone a company. The turnover of female AG's is worrying, hardly any stay and we've male staff being driven to tears. AR is on the case but I'm so close to emailing Moya which is probably not wise the mood i'm in concerning it all.

If i were you i would take the matter further,get in touch with the union and ask for assistance,they have a facility to deal with Bullying & harassment they have been very helpful with the cases going on in our office,don't step back from your line managers,if they are treating staff like that High light it don't let it slip under the radar,it is hard i know i am one of the cases but please don't give up or they will carry on doing it where ever they go.
