Re: Steve Cameron's letter
Personally I think that the different Regions putting in Unilateral Disagreements is a good thing, it show's discontent in their Regions, but how many Regions have engaged the Membership prior, during or indeed after submitting the aforementioned disagreements??? Keeping the Members involved is a prerequisite in my book, also I think that we are going to end up with a situation where you have a problem with offices that have been thru Methods Revisions and those that have yet to go thru Methods Revisions, in essence divide & conquer, would this be discussed at a higher level ?? only my thoughts

Funninly they did on a really quiet day. Anyhow, our office sees posties regular finishing at 4pm on wed, thurs, fri. Trying to work to time is a waste as bullying is thriving on the managers side to the extent nobody can work to time. I just see the union forgetting offices like ours where we've had weak union reps and stitched up big time.
Exactly whats happening in our office to the extent that our rep is on long term sick due to stress. The area rep has offered him little support and no union representative has set foot in the building since our rep went sick some five weeks ago. Add to this the numerous grievances that have all been swept under the carpet and amounted to nothing and you can understand the contempt felt for the CWU in our office. Anyway good luck with the fight and hope you dont all end up like our office.

Is right.fishtank wrote:It's a crazy, mixed up company that takes it's most "efficient" offices and screws them into the ground while encouraging the poorest performing to kick back and take it easy.
It's an even crazier union that believes it's acceptable for some offices to have to make savings based on working at 109BSI while others are left alone at 65BSI.
If it's a journey some are running world record pace while others are out for a stroll in the sun which would be fine but the prize money is the same for first or last.
How long can the disparity of performance amongst delivery offices last?
Dingo, don't take this the wrong way, but you've come into this thread with an air of ' we're alright jack'. One of the the main things that came out of 1to1's across the country was that members want equal rounds and duty structures. And yet this is the same union that sends it's reps on equality and diversity courses. Do you see the irony yet?
If the cwu really want to unite the union and get members on board then they're going the wrong way about it. Glenno also has it right. RM are using divide and conquer tactics. So what's the solution then?
Well for me and a lot of postmen and women the biggest irk at the moment is lapsing. Those on 100bsi are shafted all year round. No sooner do the mail volumes drop off for a certain time of year and then it's 'lapse, lapse, lapse'. We're human beings, people get older and the recovery time takes longer. It's no wonder sick rates go up, because the body just doesn't get time to recover in those offices that have been shafted. It also creates a unhappy workforce, which is less productive and ultimately costs the business more. Both sides need to recognise this.
So a solution? Ok it goes against BT2010, but if something isn't right, then it needs fixing, so here's my proposal. Those offices that have reached the magic 100bsi should not be made to lapse unless mail volumes drop by, let's say 20% below model week. RM may well find to their advantage that, hey more workers may actually be more willing to 'go the extra mile' , if they knew they weren't getting shafted all year round. Of course the union also needs too at the same time push for more realistic outputs in the likes of georoute etc. This way those offices below the 100bsi will still be lapsing from time to time like they are now, but they would maybe have some kind of incentive of going for the 100bsi. It also evens things out a little
Just an idea and I'm sure someone more cleverer than me will pick it too pieces, but hey ho.

Re: Steve Cameron's letter
RTP was not trying to sound like I am alright jack but the letter is from Steve Cameron titled South East region and came about as a result of the South East, London and Anglia divisons withdrawing their corporation for revisions.
Now we cannot all be the same , nthere are so many differences , from attendance patterns , how many CDVs you have , the amount of firms , what tunes your second wave comes into your office are just a few of this differences.
Equalky on performance you can go to an office working at 100bsi where to make that work they come in early and those hours are unrecorded and simply inflating their EP or BSI . You can also go to a lower BSi office where everyone starts to their time.
remember nowhere in the agreement did it say we had to reach an 100bsi.

Re: Steve Cameron's letter
Strange really how someone can be so up for BT2010 until it lands on their doorstep and then........suddenly they take their ball home. It must be great going into revisions with all the information from the previous failing revisions and all the amendments to the tools and then
say it's not for us. I hope they never see the revision money nor have the 39 hour week.

Re: Steve Cameron's letter
You can do better than that Dvbuk you think only the north have had revisions ? All 3 of those Diviisons have had offices who have done revisons and are on 39 hours now. The issue is that under the new regions Managment have tried to break the terms of the national agreement. Funny enough the same person who was in charge of the north is now in charge of the south east.
Now he may of been doing the same things in the north that he is doing down here but those divisons are not going to allow him and his Managment team get away with it.

Yes at the 11th hour - no wonder they've sent them down to you and they won't give a toss for any agreement and what are you going to do - walk out? Good luck on that.dingo wrote:You can do better than that Dvbuk you think only the north have had revisions ? All 3 of those Diviisons have had offices who have done revisons and are on 39 hours now. Re: Steve Cameron's letter
So lets get this straight if your branch agrees to 100bsi then your working life will be an unbarible nightmare of unachevible workloads bulling over performance with no back up from the cwu.But if your branch put in a disageement and get a lower bsi rate then you'll be allright jack, tough luck if your branch are not up to the fight.

Re: Steve Cameron's letter
Not quite an office could be on paper 100BSi but to make that office work people come in early , work their meal breaks and don't book overtime.
The reality is that there are range of offices some who don't work in their postcode area , different mix of mail , more firms then residential. More part timers .
What the disagreement was that Royal Mail were insisting that every office had to have a revison based on 100 BSi structure but nowhere in the national agreement does it say you have to work at 100 BSi.
Yes sometimes you have to say no and make a stand at local , area or Divisonal level. Otherwise Royal Mail will attempt to introduce what they want knowing there is no resistance. Fair maybe not but that is what happens.
