Apart from a decent wage increase, and the defence of our conditions,
pensions are a big issue for most of us. Don't let RM devalue them or make

We're ready to go back on the picket line again if we have to.

And don't leave the minority sections out of any settlement.
We expect a fair deal for the POL and MDEC members who have fought
alongside us in this dispute.

IT seems to me that there are anti union agitators on here looking at any excuse to union bash under the guise of being militants I am pleased their gonna talk we can always resume strikes if it does not work out. And we as a union would have to talk at some point why not now?

I'm very much a pro union militant,and I reserve my right to criticize the leadership of my union.

We've been sold out before and we'll get sold out again, sure as day follows night.

I wouldn't trust Billy Hayes to go down the shops for me,he'd come back with a bag of magic beans sold to him(along with a peerage no doubt) by some supermarket shyster.

We had RM on the run and we've let them get back to an equal footing,just wait and see how many of the strings attached to the pay deal we'll be asked to accept.

Leighton will walk away with his golden handshake next spring after "modernizing" the Royal Mail,Billy Hayes will get his peerage(he'll feel at home with the other dribbling loons in the house of lords) and we as workers in the Royal mail will get shafted big time.

Whatever our view on the break in strike action we must get behind our union

From tomorrow we should be in every WTL session hammering the bosses about Royal Mails capitulation.

In my Mail Centre we have had 100% support on all 4 days but some people were starting to feel a strain. This 3 week break will give us the chance to stockpile our resources so that we are ready to hit Royal Mail hard if needed.

Also we need to look at where we have come from to where we are now. 2 months ago Royal Mail were telling us all 'the deal is the deal' - Now they have signed up to a statement that was written word for word by the union. This proves that we hold all the cards and we have got them by the balls.

The public has now started to sympahise with us their support is crucial. Can you imagine how it would have looked in tomorrows papers if we had turned down serious negotiations and taken action instead!

We all want the best deal possible and the only way we'll get it is by sitting tight and waiting for the call if it comes. If it doesn't come then it will be a sure sign that dispite their arrogance and egos Leighton and Crozier have realised they aren't dealing with f***ing ASDA anymore

OK no worries. I realise some people will try to use this as an excuse to scab - the "we went on strike for you but look where it got us" brigade, and wouldn't want to do anything to encourage that. And then of course empty claims of victory by managers. However it's also important to discuss this openly and honestly - ultimately Royal Mail will be depending on the CWU leadership to keep a lid on things the next three weeks, the more signs there are that they can't, the weaker a position RM will be in although of course it could end negotiations and would up the stakes considerably. Also it's not my strike (not for at least a month anyway), so I can only give my very enthusiastic, if not always optimistic opinion and know it isn't really worth s**t in the end since I'm not losing any wages.

I think unions can represent individual workers (grievances, disciplinaries, insurance, legal support etc.) - that's why I'm a a member of one (probably two at the moment since I've just changed job and the old one hasn't lapsed yet). As to "where are you gonna go" - the only thing that wins any dispute, or protects any worker from victimisation, is solidarity and collective action, without that a union means absolutely zero, and legal channels are often an expensive dead end.

There are several of us still not so old but we have done this job since we were kids.
You`ve got to come through for us,what a boost it would be for our newer members if our fight could end with a result for us.

Too feckin' right. All of my colleagues in Network were out this week, and when the late shift boys were told today about the strikes being suspended, the one scab - who was on docket at the time - looked humiliated.

"I'm not striking, we can't win anyway, you'll lose money and all the changes are gonna come in anyway" was all you heard from that prat before and after the vote, and all that smirking as they sneaked out after doing a duty and docket while we were out on strike was really hard to stomach.

WELL WE PROVED YOU WRONG YOU SPINELESS PIECE OF GARBAGE, BECAUSE WE ALL STUCK TOGETHER AND FORCED RM TO LISTEN TO THEIR WORKFORCE. AND SIT DOWN AND TALK.
