Do you have any idea how ridiculous pushing offices towards 100BSI really is dingo when the majority of British industry works at 75-80?
You talk about it as if it's of no consequence.
Take a look in the mirror and think how you would feel trying to fill every single minute of your working day with productive work and hard physical productive work in all weathers at that.

Out of sight, out of touch and out of mind.....the lot of you. :cuppa

Fishtank there is a world of difference between using an IWT tool and working at 100BSi . Now most industries work at 100 BSi not 75 thats a fact. The acas code of pratice states that they should be a incentive for working above 75.

Now the fact is Royal Mail want to introduce world class mails in delivery offices as well as mail centres. It is based on the concerpt of continious improvement two delivery offices have already deployed itn Taunton and Burguss Hill.

It is the concerpt which a lot of industries in this country and through out the world adopt. Fiat for example.

I personally have never stated we should be aiming for this . I am aware that a lot of offices continue to chase time and therefore set the bench mark for those offices who are set the task of hitting their level.

So what is our incentive?
75 performance equates with a normal (ie: non-incentive) level, such as a worker receiving time rates could expect to achieve

100 performance equates with a standard level such as a qualified worker receiving payment by results could expect to achieve.
Which one of those descriptions best fits a Royal Mail employee?
Unless i've missed something we are NOT paid by results so why is the union even using the phrase 100BSI and allowing or even encouraging offices to be pushed towards unachievable, unrealistic performance targets.

Acas also consider that when moving from 75BSI to 100BSI... the incentive used should increase your earning by approx a third.
So...when do we get the 33% pay rise....is that year 3?
Now that would be an incentive worth talking about. :cuppa

We all know that working at 100% for 100% of the time is impossible, all RM are doing is using all these figures to beat us into submission (with the appoval of the union leadership).

I didn't think we were that far forward tbh.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

No all the revisons which have been introduced have or have been agreed are self starters based on IWT. South East London will not have delivery methods /cdvs until the walk sequencing revison next year. South West london is the same all be it the new Hemel Hampstead site has nicked their walk sequencing machines , so the SW London walk sequencing deployment is delayed. West London has all the walk sequencing machines sited at Premier Park and will have a CDV revisons for most of the units.

East London have MPUs at Stratford and Leytonstone and the remainder are self starters. North London have an MPU in Whetstone and the remaining offices are self starters.

No office in London which has a sequencing revison planned for this year is anywhere near introducing their revision. In London only walk sequencing revisons will have delivery methods. All other revisons in London are self starter and do not have delivery methods. A number of these revisions have been agreed in London and some offices are close to agreeing.

In Terms of North West London which comes under the Thames Valley regional management team 6 offices have had their revisons deployed and some of these have had delivery methods. All of these offices revisons are working.

In additon EC1-4 which covers the city of London have introduced their revision, as have W1 and WC. Again these revisions are working.

The union has agreed version 6.3 of the iWT tool. There was extensive work undertaken by the union and Royal Mail. Paul Chapman and Peter Sinnott both CWU reps who have a great knowledge of the IWT and Geo route took part in this work. As is right further work will be undertaken on IWT and Geo route and no doubt as this happens new versions of the IWT will come out.

Some of you may recall when management introduced DPMS the union got hold of it and set up a working team which tested the planning values and move Royal Mail to version 9 before Royal Mail ditched the tool. DPMS was the tool they wanted to use under the Performance bonus scheme.

Now the IWT is a revison tool which measures perfromance across the office , it is not an indivudual performance tool and there is no agreement for it to be used as a performance tool. Remember you agree under the IWT the amount of hours you both believe it should take the whole office to IPS , Prep . do redirections , get PS items , tie up etc the work for your office against the model week.

Of course if you then have sickness or special leave on the actual day and your office is perfroming this work with less people then your perfromance is infact understated. Equally when the peak traffic weeks come then you will need extra hours to clear.

The point being it is not an indivdual perfromace tool it is an office wide performance measure. The only agreement which measure indivdual performance is the IPS agreement and 1 minute test.

Has anyone north of Watford had one of these self starter revisions? Or is it something made up to get a quick £200 for FA. I'd really like someone to explain where self starter revisions fall in the 2010 agreement...............there was delivery methods and the WSM but self starter? wtf does it mean

Thanks for that Dingo.
Maybe at your next Div Rep meeting you can discuss how the IWT is being abused by managers and being used as a IPT.
And hopefully everyone there will pass this on too their ADRs and get this stopped where it is happening rather than saying it is an agreed tool and the standard set by the IWT must be met by individuals over the course of full prep time.
People are being told their jobs are on the line if they don't reach the IWT figures.

I don't know what you're getting at :hmmmm it can't be another London thing :nervous Maybe dingo is only looking at London and is basing his optimism on that. Over here in NI we're being crapped on again (although my revision has been put off because the planner screwed it up by not inputing the figures correctly and then not allowing any time for anything but prep and delivery).
