i think its very relevant as nearly all reps on here have backed the agreement, and if he was a delivery rep on full time release then wahey gold rush, jackpot and christmas all in one deal

Well he may well be a rep - even one on FT release but his profile indicates he's an MC bod so he wont get the Delivery Supplement anyway. If he is a rep in MCs then I can't condemn him if he has recommended the deal, as in isolation the deal was apart from the MC closures, pretty fair for them.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

However as a whole I believe the deal was bad, especially so for deliveries. My own view on the deal is:

RM: Excellent got everything they wanted and needed.
CWU: Very Good - Got everything they needed to keep their future within RM assured. Also got to decide where various monies should be moved around. Strategically a Very good for the Union as an Organisation.

Non Delivery Members: Not that bad - The Union has got an agreement on MTSF and VR, has managed to keep various supplements and bonuses and has got the CWU involved more directly in the closure programme. However, there are still significant problems with redeployment issues from what I gather from posts on here.

Delivery Members. :arrrghhh :arrrghhh - It MIGHT turn out good for us but there were far too many unanswered questions and unresolved issues, some of which are still being thrashed out now and some I can see rearing their ugly heads in the next 3 years.

spille: I am a Rep and get 2 days release. Also do union work in my own time! What do I think of the deal? Its not the best deal I have seen but taking the present political and economic climate with the fact that 22,000 voted against it it appears not to have been reject with a resounding voice. I have asked on many occasions about what the alternative is other than taking to the streets. Bearing in mind RM stance and as before the political and economic climate.
I have not seen any viable alternative.
D2D is the big issue but taking the fact that a lot more posties are going to recieve £20.60 more while some receieve less on a product that was not garranteed means instead of £51.4 million bill there is a £54 million for RM which can't be depreciated like it is today.
By the way the total of MCs will be reduced by 50% so don't go and say that this was brought in by Processing because there are more Delivery than Processing by a long long way! In the MCs we will see a huge reduction in full time duties whilst Delivery will recieve more resources. The closure of MCs is at present a lottery yet Delivery will not see a reduction due to the fact that you need Delivery to delivery the mail!
In effect stop your moaning and whinging and look to the future because I might end up on the dole but those who are left will be well paid and have a long term future!

Actually Belial I am going to cheer you up a bit, with the longer Saturdays and increased delivery span you won't be spending as much time in the house watching sport and daytime TV, so you won't need the central heating on as much and consequently your bills will be less - just one more reason to thank the CWU. :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle Now when your wages catch up to the present value in 2013, your delivery span and the Saturdays will be the same BUT you will be spending less and so be even better off - yet another reason.................................

It is normally cheaper by Direct Debit.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
