We have now plotted all walks that are now up on the board in the canteen for the staff to look at just ,waiting for management to draw up the driving duties and groups that cover days off.
Alsoi waiting for an updated seniroty list from management and we will be starting the re-pick hopefully next week.
Not sure how many other offices do the re-pick like we do so i will explain how we do it which in fact R/M dont agree with but tough.
We advertise the driving duties first then once we have the two duties covered we combine there seniority then divide by two and then re-place them into the seniority list to pick a walk to go with there driving duty . Example Im 20 on the list and my buddy is 28 = 48 divide by 2 re-placed at number 24 on the list to pick a walk.
What R/M want is for certain drivers to have the cream of the driivng and the cream of the walks which is not acceptable to us. So for any of you out there who do it different your doing it wrong ,this matter has been cleared up by my branch as i was battling in the beging with certain drivers and R/M management on doing it this way. They did actually say we are the only office in our area that do it this way.
Once this is out the way i have the 2010/11 business proposal to deal with they want driving S/A & O/T to cease, more walk absorption from 2 to 3,longer saturdays, and all future f/t vacancies to become P/T. I have allready drew up my counter proposals and shall be handing them in tomorrow to the DSM.

Re: Stabbed In The Back
One last thing our office really does show how important it is for everyone to do the job properly if it wasnt for this fact we wouldnt be going through any change and the office would still be a mess.
So my advice is DO THE JOB PROPERLY it does make a difference.
Its every members duty to make sure all staff are doing the job properly not just a reps

Jack it in and sell cars, you'll tripple your wages and not work with moronic kids who cannot let go of the playground mentality....
Or stay doing a thankless task for selfish people until it breaks you, and then accept a p155 poor pension whilst walking your 'old route' every morning 'cos you can't let go - until you die of boredom.
Happy xmas all, well done on the strikes....really big gains made there.

Thank you for such well thought out advice.
However I know a really good car salesman in my partners family. He was dealer principle for a prestige group earning £60k plus bonuses. He decided to start a used car business 3 years ago and has just closed it for a loss of around £47k. He was working 7 days a week sometimes selling 10 cars in a weekend and still could not keep ahead of the running costs.
So thanks for the terrible advice but I think I will give it a miss and hang on to my menial job in the recession.

Re: Stabbed In The Back
This was allways the way in our office or it was until changed by R/M years ago so now its a fairer system for allocating duties.
Why should one man or woman get the option of picking two duties in one hit you can not have the cream of both duties.
I took this all the way to the branch as that many senior posties were moaning about the present set up. They agreed with what i was saying. Also a few years back a senior postie in our office wrote to H/Q who in fact agreed with what he was saying .This was before my time in R/M so dont know the full facts surrounding his letter.
Do you think its fair that some one should pick two duties at the same time becasue i certantly dont and neither does my branch.
Say for instance im top dog on the list and i pick what i believe to be the best walk plus the best driving duty . As it is a two man section say for arguements sake the last man on the seniority list choses to pick the same duty. Do you think its rite that the less senior postie gets a better walk than yourself although hes less senior than yourself . Why should you be leaped frogged its wrong and not fair and by doing it the way we do everyone has a fair shout.
I hope ive understood your response to how we allcate duties and ive not got my wires crossed.
