i dont quite get how ur meant to fit,
-coming in finishing of the prep off the walk,
-preping parcels
-redirections
-kill offs
-tieing up
-then tieing up the extra 15% off a round we have to do every day
-20 mins travel to walk
-3 1/2 completing round.
-travel to extra 15%
-complete extra 15% of walk
-pouch off
-and then 20 minutes break

now tell me how that is possible on a 25 hour a week contract? its a joke! plus never mind the 10 miles to get to and from work every day on my bike! seriously havn't given part timers any thought about this neew modernisations! im doing exactly the same as full timers part from 45 mins i.p.s and yet they get paid hours!

absolute joke!
45 mins IPS ? Where do you work ?? Cuckoo land ? You just said your part prepping your walk , so your not doing a full prep are you. You have 20 mins at the end of your duty for your break ?? You a dimwit of some kind ?? Y ?? go home !! Your lapsing should be a round just outside your office and you do it on the wayout , not on the way back, if not , it needs sorting coz it should be like that!! 20 mins journey to your round ?? You walking to the start ?? Tieing up takes 10 mins, redirections /kill offs/ peeing parcels, takes 2 mins tops,

So lets see shall we : 5 hour day, 9am to 2pm

Start work 9am,
finish prep, 20 mins 9:20am
redirections/prep packets/kills offs 5 mins 9:25am
tie up walk ,15 mins , 9:40am
get to duty, 15 mins, 9:55
do duty 3hr30, 1:25pm
travel to lapsing ,5mins 1:30pm,
do lapsing ,10 mins, 1:40pm

Doddle , I could do it all for 12pm !! :left:
5 mins for redirections packet and kill offs you really are having a laugh jimmy

I've only been with royal 2 years and a postie for 1. Yet in that time I've seen the IPS finish time change by a at least an extra 30mins a day. With people being taken off the IPS to cover the early calls were staff have taken EVR and the duty is still not been replaced, FT staff being put on frames to through of what are now PT walks, and course to ABSORPTION.

I think its also worth noting the increased traffic on the roads, all combining to make our walks start later!

This effects every posties start time! The only people to blame for the this is the penny pinching mangers!

why are you 'peeing parcels' out of interest?

Well you are being harsh there Jimmy if not totally unrealistic (or are you joking I'm not sure)?
HOW ON EARTH can you prep your packet bag, do you deads and redirects all in FIVE MINS?! NOOOO FEEECKIN WAY! You deserva a GOLD star! That in reality is 15-30mins work depending on round and day of week.

Newpostie - in our office PT'er DO NOT do the extra bit. I repeat they DO NOT do it as it is not assigned to them. Check you are actually supposed to be doing it. Also I totally sympathise as I'm PT too and typically come in to see all the FT'ers are half prepped or doing their packet bag. So from the off you are 40mins or more behind them AND you have an earlier finish time!!! You get stuck in while the FT'er are chatting away then come 'right of way' they all walk out while you are still throwing in flats. It's a disgrace. Then to top it all your bag driver stands behind you moaning about you making him late out and accusing you of being slow? FFS.

FT'ers moaning on here should remember they are actually paid to do IPS and if they are complaining about the workload think about this - comming in to an empty frame at 8am to see everyone else is finishing off their flats. Then listen to FTers going 'oh come on what's wrong with you' and drivers moaning about you making them late out. The pressure to get bags ready for the driver some days does my nut in and most days getting any d2d in the frame is with best intentions, asking for the driver to smack you one.

In my experience PT'ers prep their frames faster than FTers, cause they have to.

Peeing your parcels ,as in putting a letter `P` on the letter of the house where you have a packet , so you dont forget the packet :d'oh! , takes literally 2 mins.

Redirects takes 2-3 mins max, come on guys,15 mins ?? what do you do with them ??

Prepping packet bag, as in tipping it and putting the packets on the top of your frame, 15 mins you say ?? More like 5 max

This is a joke right?I have about 45 redirections and this is average for the office. The most is about 70 and I know because I checked a couple of days ago.
Ping your packets takes 2 mins? How many packets - 2?A colleague of mine had over 60 the other day and that was not unusual.
5 kill offs? 50 a day would be closer to the average.
Either you are having a laugh or you have got the piss easiest walk in the UK.

I don't appreciate being told I'm incompetant fella and to be really straight with you, if you said that to my face with your silly little smirk I'd wouldn't be able to contain my anger. Do you know what I'm saying?

Average no. of redirects in our DO is probablly 15 tho some get 30. - 5mins
Packet bags are usually over flowing at the top and contain enough packets for a good 5mins work
Toilet break (the peeing I was talking about) is atleast 5min task.
Deads - average is probablly 10-15 a day. 5mins work esp as it's a big DO and the deads york is 30sec walk away.

If you work that fast you are rushing the job. If you deliver to the same rushed pace you probablly make more miss-deliveries than you would care to admit and dump a lot of packets on door-steps. It takes time to do any job to a good standard. Glad you are not my postie.
