It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Smoking
What about the customers that smoke outside the callers office door there is a very short distance between the callers office counter and the front door in our office and when there is a Que and a customer is smoking just outside the open front door it really does annoy me

Re: Smoking
That should be stopped as the law says " no smoking should take place within 4 metres of a workplace entrance "Daz wrote:What about the customers that smoke outside the callers office door there is a very short distance between the callers office counter and the front door in our office and when there is a Que and a customer is smoking just outside the open front door it really does annoy me

Re: smoking ban
Does the Sticker have to be above the tax disc or just displayed on the window somewhere in the vehicle? Where does it tell you that if the sticker is not displayed that the driver will be fined?butch wrote:hi do you know that if you dont have a no smoking sticker above tax disc in any royalmail omv the driver can be fine £50. i know this to be a fact i am the union rep for drivers in bristol so i refused to take the omv out to day you should of seen them panic they had to fine some quick all vans still not got them so dont get fined give the problem to the manager or tell them you will phone the smoking hotline on tv they will s**t themselfs good luck

smoking ban
What about the van windows as the vans are classed as workplaces. So 4 metres from vans.

Don't believe this is correct,we rang the local council and asked them about a 4m exclusion zone and was told that although the steps outside the office were RM property and they could stop you smoking there it was the councils pavement and they have no jurisdiction so the 4m zone can't apply, and anyway if the law said no smoking within 4m of a workplace entrance why do people smoke outside pubs, thats a workplace. I think you'll find this is not the law this is what RM have conjured up
