Do Spring Global process the 'scam mail'?
Do Spring Global send the 'scam mail' on to RM for delivery?
Do Spring Global make money for the above?

If the answer is 'Yes' then it's not an assumption but a fact that they DO profit from 'scam mail'.

And before you go into one, every delivery postie knows these letters from sight so Spring Global should have no problem identifying them and taking action to stop them.

Oh deary, deary me nighty asumptions are made again :d'oh! didn't say they made profit from the 'scam' but they do not do send it onward free of charge so as a direct result of there actions they make a profit which is based on the facts that they do not care whats contained in the posting and do not monitor the items sent to them .............. when the recipients recive the items is where the con takes place perhaps you can now understand it :nana

As they are based abroad. Spring Global, aren't subject to British Law, regarding Scam Mailings. They have a contractual obligation to check what they are sending. And although I have no evidence personally. There have been several reports, including one by Watchdog. Which say that they aren't performing the checks.

But regardless of whether that's true or not. If we were allowed the legal right to prevent delivery of suspected Scam Mailings, until they can be investigated. It would prevent the Scams working. So we would be able to protect vulnerable members of the Public.

If the post come from Spring or oversea scam/junk mail we have to ignore it. I want Royal Mail to close down Spring to protect our reputation.

According to Hellmail's " More Dilligence across the Board required " - Spring Global vehemently deny that they are touting for scam mail + they are not the only operator sending scam mail out ; and they say they are the only operators that are part of the Rogue Trader's task force - make of that what you will :Very Happy but I'd advise people to be careful

No more than Royal Mail and thats to comply with its statutory regulations on items that can be posted via us. Spring Global Mail does NOT have an obligation to check all mail it sends out anymore than we do and whoever said that was wrong. We have to handle, sort and deliver mail unhindered like anywhere else and can get into serious trouble if we don't.

Sorry, it was a genuine mistake. I apologise. It was the combination of these 2 paragraphs:
What items do we not accept?
We do not accept any items which are prohibited by transport or postal conventions, the rules of any international air transport or other association, or items which we believe may be unsafe to handle or items which are illegal in the country of origin, destination or any third country through which the items travel (these are called “Prohibited Items”). We may ask you to show us samples of the items you wish to ship, to make sure that they are not Prohibited Items but, whether or not we do ask for this, it is your full responsibility to ensure that no Prohibited Items are handed over to us. If you do hand over any Prohibited Items, you agree to indemnify and hold us fully harmless from any claims made against us and for any loss, liability or damage we may incur and you also agree that we can deal with any Prohibited Items in whatever way we think fit. We reserve the right to refuse to accept or collect a shipment from you, at any time, for any reason including if we have reason to believe the shipment contains Prohibited Items.

I hope you can see from the parts I highlighted, how I made this mistake.

I don't think the error is yours Andy but a replication of the posts by millie?&mo. Its one thing for someone to come on here and highlight things that are wrong but giving incorrect facts is another. Thats what I meant in another post by people believing everything they are told. All postal services except those in oppressive regimes have to allow mail to go through unhindered. Theres no contractual obligation at all to check mail and when you think about it, theres no other way to do it. Perhaps they are more angry about a lost inheritance and hitting out at everyone but we HAVE to deliver mail. End of. Royal Mail can pull out mail identified as criminal but as far as I know thats voluntary and usually because the police or office of fair trading has flagged it up, same with Spring Global, DHL and so on. Imagine if we had to check all mail that might be dodgy. You just can't do it on that scale. They would soon change the envelopes and how do you decide whats legal and what isn't. Either way Royal Mail or Spring Global etc don't have a contractual obligation to check all mail they send out but from what i've read, Spring Global do more than even Royal Mail does on that score anyway. When I started in this business, the need to get mail through was drummed into me and nothing has changed in all those years, thats why wilful delay is so serious.

Quite so, and imagine the public outcry if suddenly RM had to check if post was in any way controversial?

Would anyone really want a layer of official censorship applied to thier post?

You're right about Millie&mo bringing it to my attention. But I thought I'd checked my facts, on their Website.

Whenever I can get access to the information I need. I always try to check my facts, before making serious accusations about anyone. Although sometimes, I can't check one way or another (e.g. the events in NI No 1 last year), and have to take someone's word for it. That's why I felt it was important for me to apologise for my mistake.

Having said that: I still think it's important to try to have a Law like the one they have in Australia. So that we can protect the more vulnerable members of the Public. Although we would need to have safeguards in place, so that it would only apply to random checks of Bulk Mailings, or interception of obvious Scams (from the envelopes). So that innocent Companies, and individuals, don't have their privacy affected.

It's going to be hard to do properly. Without it becoming just another tool for "Big Brother". But I still feel it's important to try.

Spring say they take concerns about scam mail seriously
Yet Spring Global have only JUST added the piece about scam mail onto there website (since being contacted by Think Jessica)..and what use is information on a website of a company nobody has heard of let alone to elderly victims who cant use a computer!

Spring say that they won a case against the OFT ...UNTRUE the OFT won the said case on appeal and that was when they had to be seen to being doing something about scam mail.. up until that point they had done nothing!

SEE THIS LINK http://www.oft.gov.uk/news/press/2008/86-08

Spring say they have cancelled 13 contacts..these were not weeded out by them they were "bought to there attention "by the authorities at the expense of the taxpayer.(of course these contacts had to be cancelled)

Spring say that they COULD spot check mail, but that wouldn't prove other letters were scams.... Police do spot checks as a deterrent and it works ..SPRING DO NOTHING TO DETER CRIMINALS !

Spring boast that they build personal relationships with there clients....and the thousands of criminals use PO BOX addresses, but Spring will offer them an address to use as part of there service
Spring say that criminal mail is difficult to spot ?
Springs criminal clients put obvious scammers statements all over the envelopes...."YOU ARE A GUARANTEED £250,000 WINNER" URGENT DELIVERY CLAIM YOUR PRIZE NOW"" I CAN SEE INTO YOUR FUTURE, I HAVE SOME WONDERFUL NEWS" "YOU ARE A CONFIRMED WINNER" "£10,000 AWAITS YOUR CLAIM" etc etc

One victim alone can receive up to 100 criminal letters a day that have passed though Spring.... £BILLIONS LOST TO SCAMS EVERY YEAR!
Think Jessica examine thousands of scam letters and as yet have not found one legit letter that has passed through Spring ! Every one has been a scam!

Until Think Jessica how many R.M employees knew about Spring ???? it only gets a mention when it gets bad press.

Whatever is said about thinkjessica , one things for sure without them nobody would be aware of the plight of the thousands of silent chronic scam mail victims . AND NOBODY WAS DOING ANYTHING TO HELP THEM! Oh and whoever thinks that thinkjessica is a load of offsprings that are worried about their inheritence ..visit the Gallary page on thinkjessica.com and watch the videos and read the stories.

this the problem - you can draw your own conclusions about the contradictions . Good spin and hype but it's as shallow as a tapdancer's smile just like RM :Very Happy - don't need Dave & Deidre Spart from the SWP to stir it up .

I'd try Private Eye - they'd be interested , plenty of people nervously look through that to see if they are in it :Very Happy
