Where's this taking a third nonsense come from, whilst that might be workable for the first week, you can see by the second week nobody will have a clue which third has been delivered and which two thirds still need to be delivered.
It's mind blowing RM have made such an easy job, to something so complicated it needs a manual to understand how it works.
It is complete madness - a simple job turned into a complete convoluted mess
If you're taking a third of one of the 4 duties in the pod then how can it be fixed as surely you won't take the same third every day?
You take the same 8 loops each day,
Day one your 1st four loops are heavy (mail and packets) and the last four are light (packets and 1st class only)
Day two you do the same 8 loops but the first four are now light (packets and 1st class) and the last four are heavy (all mail and packets)
Day three as one
Day four as two etc.....
What they really should have done is wherever possible make every duty single and artificially ‘big’ - say 700-800 houses. You do 400 houses with all items and 400 with only tracked and 1C. Next day switch.
I’d imagine depending on the attendance pattern you could even increase the duty size to 1000 houses.
It would easily save more money in offices that can operate that way rather than throwing DM26 at each and every office and hoping for the best.
That is basically what is happening with DM26 on the van shares, You will have your own walk and a fixed third of another round permanently added to your outdoor.
The singleton will have a fixed set of delivery points too, just two thirds of two walks that they prep. You could easily view this in the manner that you described above.
e.g. Singleton was on walk "three" before DM26 doing it all every day. Lets say for example 600 delivery points just for ease of calculation!
With DM26 he will deliver 400 delivery points from his own round alternating between heavy and light each day ( the other 200 DP will be done by the van shares duties) but will gain 400 delivery points from the old walk 4 (also nominally 600 DP originally with the van shares picking up 200 dps) doing alternate days of heavy and light too.
So his new duty could be viewed as 800 delivery points doing 50/50 so in effect his round got bigger but he is doing 50/50.
Just to be clear the figures for DPs above may not reflect what you have now. your walk could be 400 DPs or 1000 DPs. 600 DPs in the example make the calculations easy to understand

We do that now and are up to our time. But,,,, theres even more to do ,,,,

But this is nothing like somebody is describing they are now doing on Facebook, which is just doing the heavy/light model across 4 existing duties between the 3 of them.
I can't see anywhere in the DM26 notes it suggests duties are being increased in fact the opposite seems the case.
What's interesting is they also have apparently have to do the 2C which has hit the 3day/5 day DTS time buffer for delivery.
The Big one is teamwork, unselfishness, will certain staff drag there feet, come back to help out, every office has a few lazy staff. This will show up big time , can see a lot of arguements etc coming soon,,,,

There's absolutely no way anyone will be helping out others. They don't now and this won't change. We'll still have the manager's favourites getting away with the bare minimum whilst others get shafted with even more work.

Spot on, most of ours on the applicable duties have already decided they won't have time despite some of them actually having plenty of spare time now before they have even more.
There won't be anybody coming back to help, the new additions to any duty will be decided in the planning based on the PDA data that's been collected already. So everybody will know what they will be doing before they leave the office and crucially at the repick that should happen too

That's what I was hoping but I'm not holding my breath.
So depending on the percentage of duties you have that fit the 50/50 criteria it's like a mini revision to even out the duties, again I won't hold my breath, ours think they'll be able to get away with doing nothing or at the most have to do a couple of parcels that may have got missed.
Everyone works differently, some love chatting to customers, some just want to get the job done in time and get on with it, some are just slow, some are fast....
So how can we say someone should come and help others finish up.... that someone might be quick and the others that he/she goes to help might be slow. Also, posties knowing someone's coming to help them may drag their feet as they know someone else is going to come and do some of their work for them.

This is the BIG ELEPHANT in the corner of the DO which nobody seems to want to acknowledge/address with this model..........
There's a herd of elephants in the room with DM26.
How's about who the work really filters down to in order to make this work/save money.
The rural singleton drivers that are only doing 50/50 and 'helping out' - no.
The person sitting in the passenger seat in the shared van? - not really.
The single driver in the pod? - again, not as much.
The shared van driver - BINGO!

Bang on. Be an absolute stampede for the single jobs followed by the passenger job in a shared when each office has a repick. You would be off your head to voluntarily pick the driving side of a shared van.
