It's basically now a Catch22 for this Government. ANY help, be it in the form of loans or more subsidies would be seen as illegal under EU competition laws. The likes of TNT are already deciding what German posties should be paid, and are still protesting at our VAT exemption. They will be certain to be watching closely. We are so fecked up. We are told to modernise yet we should have been modernised years ago, instead any investment was kept to a minimum with profits being creamed by the government - not to mention the pension 'holidays'. That underinvestment has came back with a vengeance. No wonder Blair buggered off, he knew what was coming to Brown and he knew who would get the blame!
