i received this on our whatsapp union group yesterday, but i don't know how to post it on here, as im not tech savvy, so i will just type it word for word, its from Simon gobshite Thompson on his workplace forum. so here goes:- ''i watched the CWU live transmission last night-it was less than one hour-after we had spoken to CWU leadership about resolving the dispute- and i said to them ''you need to be very careful about what you now say...''- and my honest take on it- there is a less than 1% chance of getting an agreement on the change we need- i see no change in behaviour- and a change in behaviour is what we need- nothing about the customer, nothing about the change agenda-just 1970s unionism rhetoric- and the great shame is- we have some brilliant CWU reps in the field-who see the need for change, and are great partners-i also note that an increasing number of them-are coming back to work..''
thats his post on that workplace forum. Tony Bouch has replied with a scathing attack on his comments on the CWU site but its too long to repost on here. perhaps Postman or Teebs can oblige? any comments? ....should be interesting.

No union has agreed to change and modernisation on the scale of the CWU has agreed too so his remarks are just plain wrong .

Whilst obviously Thompson is a lying predator I feel the union need to explain themselves. Dave Ward has said several times that RM are going to make a new improved pay offer this week coming but Thompson has said today that this is completely untrue. Dave Ward has also said the strikes have made RM come back into ‘talks’ but again Thompson has denied that these are actually real talks or negotiations? So have the Union been bullshitting us that our strikes are having an effect? I get the CWU have to try keep spirits up but honestly I would rather just be told the truth, we get enough lies from Royal Mail.

I'd say cwu is being repeatedly lied to by simon and they are working with they are told or at least hinted by him. Then he comes up completely opposite only days later. I might be wrong. I can only imagine this is difficult for them too as Simon isn't honest at all.

the negotiators could well be telling the truth, in that there really is going to be an improved offer, because they know he is going to be ousted by the board next week, and he doesn't know about it yet. why else would they be telling our negotiators this if they knew fine well that dickhead was going to say the exact opposite? maybe just my imagination running wild but its a thought.

According to the Daily Mirror, Royal Mail offered £250 lump sum and 3% and then £500 lump sum with 5%. Rejected by CWU.
No idea if this is true.
That would not be acceptable to me. But if that’s what was offered, it has not been communicated to the members as far as I know.

Said it before. Out of his depth. Needs to go. We are open to change going forward - no problem there.

What we are not allowing is open-season slashing of T&C’s and rights, in nothing other than a race to the bottom. That’s all this is remember. It’s nothing to do with modernisation.
