I've just looked up Simple Simons employment record. He has never worked for any company where the workforce would even think about striking never mind actually doing it. He has no clue of the stress and s**t that we will pile on his head. Shareholders wanting action, the government getting their oar in, phone calls all day and night about nightmare logistical issues. At the moment he doesn't care and talks big. People like him who have never done the job and don't know how it all works always do. In the words of the Rolling Stones "Here comes your 19th nervous breakdown ".

When i ordered a card beginning of last December i ordered 1st class as it was free, it came in January...
There was a Tracked option at £4/5, but i wasn't that desperate. My point is just that i think there's been the option for a while.

I think that some companies are just taking advantage of RM's failures now. For example, MoonPig always sent their cards simple 1st class....and they got delivered.

Yesterday afternoon at 5:50pm there was a knock at my door. As I was on the phone I didn't get to it before the person left but when I did get to it, there was a Royal Mail van pulling away, he/she had come from the next town 10 miles away (I knew the van as it's the one that delivers to work), obviously doing LAT's and there was a MoonPig card in a Tracked 24 envelope posted through my letterbox!

Add to that, the card was for my next door but one neighbour but it was my address on the envelope so it was delivered as addressed. I took to my neighbour. Our regular post lady who's been on the round for yonks would have known that anyway.

My point is, these cards that always got delivered with the normal post, they are now coming in Tracked 24 - is that because of the abysmal service RM give to letters now that at least the sender can get it delivered on time?

How much extra in wages and diesel has that card now cost to deliver? Absolute madness.
Moonpig have been an LAT customer for quite a while now.

Annualised hours imho is way ahead of its time. The CWU fought hard to get us a SHORTER WORKING WEEK not so long ago, but you want us to work up to 44 hours in winter....with later starts and finishes....and all because its greener??

Like it was greener in getting rid of all of our post bikes and massively increasing the fleet of vans back in the day!

Annualised hours will be the first thing you will be forced to drop because posties will be going on sick in the winter when they are working 44 hours for 37 hours pay. Oh wait....we still haven't sorted out sick absence yet and why its so high in the first place.

Problem is he has no idea what it is like probably thinks it will be some Churchillian adventure to africa where no one else has a gun how wrong was he, Or let's round up some zulus only to take a spear up your arse not a good way to try subjugating people who don't like being subjugated!

Can see this going nuclear, all of us being dismissed then offered a place on new terms and £9.50 a hour take it or leave it.

Apparently cockroaches can survive a nuclear holocaust but they can't survive a big stamp from my size 11s.

The strike begins at 04:00am on each strike day.

People on nightshift will actually be performing a (legal) walkout at 4am as they work till 06:00 am.

No return before midnight on the the following shift too.

Should be interesting for anyone intending to sc*ab as all your colleagues will expect you to be clocking out at 4am alongside them........it's not going to be like sneaking in the back gate in the back of a van.
I've got a quick question about this, I haven't been at royal mail whilst a strike has happened before, so sorry if i sound dumb for asking it. Anyway, I work nights, would that mean night workers only strike for 3.5 hours per strike day or am i miss reading it?

The legal notice clearly states that the strike commences for all shifts starting at or after 04:00.

A night shift duty will continue to work their shift and they will be on strike the following night as the strike finishes at 04:00.

The following night the night duty holder will be out for the whole shift.

Ah ok gotcha, thanks for clearing that up. So basically, we'd finish the shift as usual and not come in the next night. then start the night after as usual?

A very positive day explaining what the dispute is about to people who asked on the doorstep and in the street. Nothing but support.
