To be fair, who the hell would want to work in this job now? There are way better jobs out there.
A lot of other companies seem to have now offered adequate pay rises, so there's jobs out there with fair pay. At Royal Mail we are still stuck on 2%.

RMT workers aren't even happy with an 8% pay rise and are fighting for more.

Royal Mail are so far behind. How long is it going to take for them to offer us a fair deal.
So what would you accept as a fair deal everyone is different.
Fair in my opinion is a minimum of another 9% on the 2 that we've had already. Total of 11%.
In my opinion if we get 6% we will be very lucky.just can't see us being offered even that so set yourself up for a lot strikes we all knew it was coming so no excuses.

Need to correct u there. They are after the RMT members terms and conditions as well and the offer is only 4%.

Loads have gone already from ours and no sign of them being replaced any time soon. So we’re failing mail and even tracked most days.

But this doesn’t seem to be exclusive to RM, plenty of companies are short of staff at the moment due to poor working conditions/pay not keeping up with inflation.

They don’t care at the top, they’re hell bent on getting as many of the ‘old guard’ to leave so they can be replaced with flexi contracts. They are playing a dangerous game and I think it will backfire.
They definitely want the old guard gone without a doubt
unfortantely this is true once new starters have a critical mass on new T&C's thy can use one group against the other. Happened to me in energy year ago. Same in BT, its a universally accepted post privtisation way to go.

if Truss and Sunak are hell bent on going down the anti-union stance..... then even more workers will leave. Generally, across the UK we have lost workers due to Brexit, we have lost workers due to coronavirus - people have chosen to retire early, next even more people will chose to retire early or change career due to the destruction of the working class.

The government and company bosses will regret what they are doing right now as they struggle to recruit in the months and years to come.

I suspect I'll be IHR out the door if the CSP hours get slashed even more soon (with the agreement of the union) :cry :thumbdown

Supposedly , they are that desperate for staff in our area they are now contacting the people they rejected earlier on in the recruitment process that where deemed not wanted!
More useless rejects, that's the only people that will apply for delivery jobs when these changes come into effect. That puts more pressure on those that can do the job efficiently, )and not spend half the day on their phones, or wondering which letter to put in the frame first), hence they will also leave.

i think they want r.m to sink to the bottom then split the company, keep the more profitable parcel arm and blame the unions and workers for failure. then the government will have to re nationalise the core mail delivery service essential for society. not all people are ready for on-line paperless sevices yet and rely on the postman who is weighed down with pizza leaflets and scam mail. bulk postings havent gone down, they turn up once a week, gap fillers on the frame "mails down" bollocks, bollocks, bollocks, feel beter now ! have a good evening fellow sufferers. x
ps. "sorters UP you know who you are, dont forget your lapsing and van checks" (if van faulty just click ok cos we dont have any spare vans)!!!!!
Highly likely. It seems like their plan does n`t it?

Surely it's down to there not being enough workers post COVID & Brexit as unemployment is at a record low so they must be working somewhere?
The effect of poor terms and conditions across most employers is that nobody sees the point of moving from one crappy job to another.

We don't have a major unemployment problem in the UK but we do have a huge underemployment problem.

Too many people not earning enough or working enough hours having to be helped out by the state every week just to survive.

That's why despite record employment the benefits bill just gets larger and larger.

The UK is one of the world's worst for underemployment.
Or people wanting a nice hand out from the taxpayer and are therefore not able to work many hrs for fear of losing the freebie.

If van faulty, you don't drive it. Simple. Irrelevant to you if they've not got spare. Not your problem. Points on your licence or being involved in an accident or getting mail stolen from van because the door won't lock or the window is broken, now that would be your problem.

That's the kind of s**t the Daily Mail will convince you is true.
The only reason "in work" benefits are necessary is because wages are so low and hours are inconsistent.

There's no incentive to increase your hours and move away from in work support if 3 months down the line they're going to be cut again.

Exactly, that's why this country is fxxked. Everyone wants a handout and don't take responsibility for themselves. How many take benefits and smoke and go down the pub? Hardworking tax payers paying for other layabouts fags and booze. We've all delivered to the type of areas these folk live. Big TVs, outdoor settees, laughing at us delivering their eBay stuff in shity weather.
