I don't know. I would doubt it as everyone can top up to 6 weeks annual leave by paying for it....but how many people actually buy annual leave, I doubt many Posties do. So you would assume they'd be weeks spare.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑16 May 2022, 11:07Would any extra over 6 weeks actually be usable, when many offices already have staff carrying over AL into the following leave yearnorris9 wrote: ↑14 May 2022, 07:14How about allowing Posties to purchase a much higher annual leave than just topping up to 6 weeks. The job is exhausting, causes injuries, so allow workers to purchase more time off. Walking the distances we do I think we actually deserve more paid annual leave to rest and recover, but they will obviously never do this, so they should instead allow us to purchase more weeks off.

I’ve always found this bit interesting - carrying over AL is only by agreement between employer and worker. So for example Bob who doesn’t agree to carry over his AL and wants to take it before the end of the leave period, what happens then?SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑16 May 2022, 11:07Would any extra over 6 weeks actually be usable, when many offices already have staff carrying over AL into the following leave yearnorris9 wrote: ↑14 May 2022, 07:14How about allowing Posties to purchase a much higher annual leave than just topping up to 6 weeks. The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

If there's no leave slots left, then it's just tough, the AL will have to be carried overHTPostman wrote: ↑19 May 2022, 09:03I’ve always found this bit interesting - carrying over AL is only by agreement between employer and worker. It's not tough, it's an automatic greivance. If there's no leave slots left, then it's just tough, the AL will have to be carried over
It's actually breach of contract.
If there aren't any leave slots left then they'll just have to open more up and if that means paying out overtime then that's what's tough, leave slots are not written in stone, Moses didn't bring them down after talking to a burning bush.

Annual leave planning in the stickies in the union room.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Exactly we all know who the players are in our offices , and so do the DOMs , in fact i confronted him on this subject, and the reply was "yes i know who they are but they are playing the system and there is nothing i can do about it" . And so we then as an officer have to cover the duty holders round while they sit at home on the sick and we have to work harder to cover them. What a reward for turning up for work .
