There's bucketloads of scientific evidence that almost any virus can be spread by contact both directly and through secondary surfaces.
This one in particular because it actually lives in the sort of s**t that drips from your nose.
Wiping down a PDA might get rid of some of it if some disgusting scrote has been mining away up there but unless you're giving it the full into every knook and cranny thing there's always a risk however small.
That said there are plenty other contact diseases we don't seem to have worried about until now.

Signature Capture - Re-instating our popular signed for product
A big thank you goes out to everyone who is already capturing signatures from our customers - and a reminder that our deadline for full re-instatement of Signature Capture is coming up on Sunday 1 May.
Following consultation with the CWU, we’ve been re-instating Signature Capture throughout the month of April.
Frontline delivery colleagues should now have received a refresher from their manager about how to capture signatures and an associated reminder brief about dog awareness.
Our standard operating procedures on Signature Capture have been updated to include new guidance on using PPE and how to handle the PDA when getting a signature from a customer (please see sections four and seven of SOP22.2 in particular for the changes.)
The brief is therefore not only a vital intro to Signature Capture for delivery colleagues who have joined since we temporarily suspended the feature in March 2020, but also contains vital updates for those who worked with Signature Capture before March 2020.
If you have not yet received the refresher on Signature Capture – please ask your manager for details. If you are a manager and have not delivered the refresher to your staff – please click the links below and ensure that your teams are fully briefed.
We temporarily suspended Signature Capture, which is a feature of our Special Delivery and Signed For products and some Tracked variants, in March 2020 as part of our response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
With life returning to business as usual, we have taken a cautious approach to re-instating the feature, in line with Government guidelines.
We asked colleagues to begin capturing signatures from Monday 4 April, with a view to reintroducing the feature at a pace to suit colleagues with normal service to be resumed by the beginning of May 2022.
If you have any questions, please contact the People Case Advice Team for support.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I will consider it once a stylus, which I didn't remove from my PDA has been replaced. Until such time, I'm afraid I'm not letting anyone squiggle away with their finger all over the screen. End of discussion.

Have not got a signature for 2years and am not going to start now. In them 2 years i’ve had zero denial of receipt claims aswell.
‘Sending customer’ is asking for this to be reinstated > screw what the posties actually think.
After a mini outbreak of covid absences within our unit on first week of reintroducing signatures i raised it with the DOM , he said its just a coincidence

Re: Return of customers signing for items on PDA? 4 April?
I asked my recipients if they would like me to sign for them when they have their parcel in their hands.
All of them without exception have said 'Yes please ' and 'thank you '
They not keen either touching the PDA.
Also on a Saturday in certain areas around the country it is in order to DWS for respect of religion.
No issues whatsoever.

Same with me, I've not come across one customer yet who's even hesitated before agreeing, they probably have no wish to touch our PDA's anyway.TOWER1 wrote: ↑27 Apr 2022, 16:42I asked my recipients if they would like me to sign for them when they have their parcel in their hands.

Nobody has mentioned anything in our office and we dont have WTL anyway.
Manager has taken VR and doesn't even come out the office.
Loads of new starters who have not even asked for signitures before and the PDA's dont have any stylus's anyway
