Re: Payrise
Yeah its like the working class who vote Tory, oh our betters know what's good for us they tell us from their posh schools and mansion houses that austerity and gruel is good for us. Take pay cuts (in real terms) so that they can profit more for our misery. F*ck that. Stick up for our own rights pay to keep up with inflation and the millionaire's can look after themselves!TopperGas wrote: ↑04 Feb 2022, 20:55Probably by making whoever they've employed in the past work for a pittance?mjd24 wrote: ↑04 Feb 2022, 17:38Well maybe theres a reason they've become millionaires and perhaps listening to their expertise might benefit usClappedoutpostie wrote: ↑04 Feb 2022, 16:21So we should accept a pay cut in real terms then, funny how the people who come out with these statements are always millionaires.![]()
Our pay should keep up with inflation. And if the unions can't fight for that well then they are a waste of space.

Re: Payrise
The unions policy for the April Pay Rise is the following :
1. A pay rise of inflation or above.
2. 35 hour gross working week without loss to pay meaning the final 2 hours off the working week.
3. An increase in overtime rates.
4. A commitment to more 3,4 day working.
Of course no pay increase comes without strings and that is going to be the negotiation!

Re: Payrise
You can bomb 4 straight out.A "commitment" no thank you.
A pay rise no doubt about it.Good hard money that puts food on the table with no strings attached.
We've dragged the company through the pandemic and they've had there slice of the pie now let's have ours.

Re: Payrise
As always Thank You for sheeding any possible light on this world of PR Bullshite that is Royal Mail Martin.
To my colleagues: I don't think we achieve anything by slagging down any contributors that may be able to provide insight into subjects that we are just guessing about.
IMO it's pointless fighting for further reductions in hours .... UNTIL the original duty can be done in the time. All that's happened over the last few years is that hour, or two, has been taken off "Work" and has become "Pressure". We've seen no significant savings from Technology. The one piece that could have saved us time... "Walk sequencing the mail" has been diluted due to staff shortages at the MC. The second batch, and sometimes the first, is just Walk Sorted.
I believe paying a decent OT Rate would be a winner! And I don't mean a measely extra 50p, or a £1.
I always thought that one of the guiding principles of any Trade Union was to provide employment!
Increasing the OT Rate would make it more attractive (read cost effective) to RM to employ more staff. We could Revisit Failing Revisions, creating more walks (because we'd have the extra staff) and perhaps be physically able to complete within contracted hours. The extra staff would also act as a "Buffer/Reserve" if we were suffering from High Levels of sickness, at present every DO just has the exact ammount of staff (if they're lucky) and IF noone's sick or on holiday. As soon as that happens we're struggling. My DO only works because at present we've got over 10% working their Day Off every week!
The percentage of pay increase has become meaningless to me over the years. I've lost more in Diluted T&Cs!
Like all Wage Slaves, he had two crosses to bear: The people he worked for and the people he worked with! (Stephen Vizinczey.)

Re: Payrise
Strings attached for a pay rise , fed up of this scenario every year , and waiting till october for it ! The last cpl years has been a joke , constant pressure, conduct codes, well be having a conversation, and the damage done by forced in revisions . Strings attached ,,, we deserve better !

Re: Payrise
In my opinion too a shorter working week is just not going to be a viable option for us. We can't complete our rounds during 37-38hour week so losing more hours is just not going to work. We all need a decent pay rise and overtime pay revision too.
This should be the only goal for CWU.
Inflation around 6% mark and is likely to climb even higher pushing living costs ridiculously high. I know many of us live already from pay check to pay check and have to battle everyday with unmanageable workloads and bullying managers. This is getting serious now, people are already at breaking point physically and mentally and rising livings costs combined with lack of proper pay rise is going to be the last straw for many.

Re: Payrise
A simple increase in pay rates somewhere near inflation is all that's needed.Martin Walsh wrote: ↑05 Feb 2022, 19:50The unions policy for the April Pay Rise is the following :
