Can't be done, and no way around it (i've tried).

If you were to use your voucher at Leisure lakes bikes (if they still accept the voucher), you could try your luck with them,
but i don't think they stock Boardman bikes

no way around it all, its all to with the tax relief you get with the scheme!!

what you can do is try your local bike sellers and see if they will accept the halfords voucher, i know mine (in carlisle) does and will let you put down as much extra as you want but you wont find the boardman you want as i think that they are only sold by halfords!!

What would a 499 pound bike cost in real terms each week on a 12 month lease?

They take a deduction of £5.65 from your wages weekly for 78 weeks if you opt for the 500 quid voucher. That's a gross deduction mind, so in actuality your net wage only decreases by about £3.90 or thereabouts.

Was wondering as you don't actually own the bike, Royal Mail do can you insure it? I'll rephrase that as I'm sure that an insurance company will take your money but if you come to claim will they refuse a pay out as its not yours to insure?

Don't forget that at the end of the term you still don't own the bike. If you want to keep it after the 18 month period you have to buy it off RM. As they only do £500 collection vouchers that'll mean paying RM £75.50 to own it.
LOTS of people forget this!

Seventy five quid? Are you sure? I thought it was nearer the 30 quid mark. Still, even if it is 75 quid it's worth it, seeing as those Boardman bikes sell second hand on ebay for between 300 to 400 quid. I'll be keeping mine though, it's a class act. :Very Happy

Unless the scheme has changed drastically you pay around £30 which is clearly stated in the terms & conditions, i have used the scheme 3 times and i only got charged once

We had a couple of guys come into our office to day pushing this, seems strange that RM still want to encourage this when their stance on cycling is that it is too dangerous.
Mind you our office has a drive to work scheme, you use the van to get home and back, all you do is put a bit of diesel in every week, every ones happy
