Well during the week he was quoted as saying he would force Theresa May to call an early election, if only he would, sadly he is as transparent as the glass he was hiding behind. He must realise that it would be the equivalent of political suicide for him and the labour party.Tman wrote:So the leader of the official opposition party can't answer questions without a script, and is even too stupid to realise that glass is transparent.

This whole thread is mainly two people moaning about who was elected at leader of the Labour Party. Or is it okay to moan only if you agree with the moaners.
My personal opinion is that everyone has a right to moan, its all part of Democracy. Even me moaning about this thread is part of that.

Moan on! The difference between the Referendum, the American Election and Corbyn being elected as leader of the Labour party is that the other two served a purpose; the referendum which will enable the UK to leave the EU and Trump actually being elected as the next president of the USA and able to shape the future of America. Corbyn just returned to his original purpose and that serves no purpose whatsoever.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Double standardsdvbuk55 wrote:I think Boris Johnson is right it's whine, whine, whine by the losers of elections or referendums instead of just accepting the result![]()

New material drops into the lap almost on a daily basis.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:I think the double act needs new material.
Every time I think the scruffy little hypocrite can't sink any lower...he does.
He's the gift which keeps on giving....unless you're of the opinion that the country needs an effective opposition, and then he becomes a tragically ineffectual individual heading up ( can't say "leading") the sad motley bunch which the "Working Class" have/has always relied on to fight their corner; now needed more than ever but clearly MIA and increasing likely to stay that way, it seems.
Just when he/they should be landing hits on the May roadshow they choose to implode in a way second only to UKIP's.
They don't even seem to realise the disdain the average Joe seems to hold them in, so maybe even now they can't see the way the wind is blowing.
"We know better than you.." is just so last year.

Well there you go. Saw him on Andrew Marr this morning, and I can only think he's had a boot up the arris from someone influential.
He actually sat up straight and looked presentable (yes I know he was off to the Cenotaph), he answered questions on Immigration, Trump and Article 50 in a reasoned and reasonable way, and actually appeared to have 21st century answers (as opposed to his usual 1970s dogmatic answers) to contemporary problems.
{The first Labour leaders I've ever heard to state that immigration, far from being a goal in itself, is actually a continuing problem that needs sorting}
Still never going to be the voters' choice, but a big improvement and credit where it's due.

They'll be back, have no fear.
James Jones' acolytes (for instance) were still singing his praises as he was pouring the poisoned orange juice down their necks. Love is blind.
God loves a tryer as they say, and God knows this bloke's been trying enough..

A good interview, he came across well. I also thought it was nice that he was taking a 92 year old retired postman and WW2 veteran to the Cenotaph ceremony as his guest. It must be the same man who was with him at the British Legion Remembrance Ceremony at the Albert Hall the night before.
If you missed it, the Andrew Marr interview is here:

And this morning on the Andrew Neill politics show Dianne Abbott personified everything currently wrong with the Labour Party under Corbyn, and even he must now see that just being an old squeeze of his doesn't change the fact that she's useless, unelectable and very much damaged goods.
Incoherent, vague and self-contradictory. Full of the usual tripe about "racism" and short of any real ideas to solve the problems of anyone other than the Islington elite.
Shame, as dear old bumbling jezza was undergoing something of a slight renaissance too, although to hear him talking recently of the "political parasites" of the Right is almost beyond parody.
Listen Jezza, you charmless shambolic oaf, if you can't make political capital or substantial headway in the current politically turbulent times, you never will.
Best you go now. You're a liability.

Don't you have any other song Tman?
If Diane Abbott is 'unelectable' how come she has been elected at every General Election since 1987.

Andrew Neill is a (very) thinly veiled Conservative. He is a former chairman of the Federation of Conservative Students who later went on to become editor of Rupert Murdoch's Sunday Times.
His particular brand of narky conservatism is hardly fitting of a BBC presenter - who, do after all, themselves state that "impartiality lies at the heart of public service and is the core of the BBC's commitment to its audiences".
Without having seen the interview above I would just say that their is a huge difference between robust and investigative journalism and self serving gratuitous antagonism. And Mr. Neill too often falls in the self serving gratuitous antagonism camp.

Neill isn't a great interviewer, but then he really didn't need to be when the hapless (and hopeless) Ms Abbott was in the chair.
For someone who has spent so long in politics (Christ knows how) to be so abject in an interview is astonishing, but then to somehow make it out it's down to Andrew Neill isn't far off that either.
Politicians are supposed to use these typically Sunday morning shows to promote and showcase the policies they intend to follow, and if this person is really the best that Corbyn can come with up for that position then God help us all, as the Tories will walk it for years to come..
