Single vans to stop?

Post by mickeymacca »

If the USO is modified or even scrapped, that could give a broader parameter of how deliveries can be performed without the need to van share. You could for example send someone out P/T on delivery at 7 am and have them back by 11am while the full/timer preps rounds/IPS from 9 am until 11 then takes the van from the P/T and finish about 16:30. I'm not sure how realistic this sort of scenario is, and it would obviously p'ss off a lot of people.....Is a permanent change in the USO a possibility?

Planning.
These duties were planned for van share driving from loop to loop.
They need to be re-planned delivering from one loop to the next.

It's nothing new, it's how we used to work using boxes.
Except the non-driver would be travelling out and back by.............?

The part-timer/non-driver wouldn't be travelling out and back.
They would be starting on the street.

The car driver doing that final loop to take them to their time, whilst the van driver does final packet clearance and drive back to DO/Pouch off etc... has a mis-sort/wrong address/N/A etc.. from their final bundle of mail... or some neighbour comes out and hands them a 'Does not live here anymore' letter...

DO they:

a) Return back to depot with that undelivered mail
b) go home anyways and bring it in the following day at work.

Easiest way is to swap numbers and ring if he finds a missort, or rework it so the packets are done earlier so you both have a walking loop to finish off and both finish near each other on the street. Alternatively if someone comes out with a NATA either walk it to a postbox if there’s one nearby or just refuse to take it and explain why.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

We have one pairing that shares a van. Mind you they have been married for 20 years and share a bed.
