a Strong Union and Workers response will make a Hostile Takeover less appealing for those concerned . A Weak Union and a Demoralised Workforce and your scenario is more likely IMO. the share price , even as it is at the moment, has a lot of upsides to it.

Couldn't agree with you more my friend. Can you imagine not knowing from day to day which walk or even office you would be at? What time you would be finishing at? How many hours you would get, THIS WEEK. They tupe you over to DELIVERY LIMITED RM and after 52 weeks you sign a new contract for less money and bullshit terms of you can eff off. They will be no ihr or evr/vr, it will be all teenagers on zero hour contracts under the age of 25 as their minimum wage is about £6 odds per hour. Then you can really say, THE JOBS F....D.borders wrote:a Strong Union and Workers response will make a Hostile Takeover less appealing for those concerned . Spot on, we have to be Strong to keep the vultures away. i would say this is , as a serious position as i have seen in my time in RM. Bizarrely , most people at work are not even aware we are in dispute with RM !!

Yes RM will try their very best to get rid of older employees,it happened to me and I saw it happen to others. It doesnt matter how many years service you have done, how good you are at your job, when you reach a certain age,you are just no good for them anymore and they make sure you know it,but one day this will come back and bite them...........................magicw wrote:citypostie wrote:Which is why they want to bring in an outdoor performance standard in, to make sure people dont slow down and the slower ones speed upnorris9 wrote:So this would be a clock in - clock out system?DGH wrote:More immediately I think the union probably need to accept that things are going to change and need to concentrate on making the changes sensible. Automated hours capture is pretty hard to argue against if you take the attitude that people should work the hours they are paid for.
This makes sense. Though the problem with it from RM's side is that Posties will slow down. At the moment, a lot of the time we have to walk round like we are doing an Olympic Walk race and don't have time to pause.
WHICH IS WHY THEY WANT TO BRING IN AN OUTDOOR PERFORMANCE STANDARD.
How exactly would that work. I used to work in Both the Army and the Prison Service, and we had annual fitness tests. Within my time in the Prison Service it was deemed that the test used ( Bleep Test\ Multi stage shuttle run ) was age discriminative and there were different pass standards for different age groups, Would royal mail do this or just get rid of older employees, Considering the retirement age is 67, how would this work.

Long term DO staff have probably got more job security than what MC staff have. At least RM can't automate the actual delivery of the mail, even if they can automate the preparation of the walks

Better off putting money into investments rather than a pension anyway.Navalron wrote:I posted on here a couple of weeks ago but got a few cheeky replies. I don't take any delight in saying I told you so. Yous all need to stand together to fight this bullshit or the job and RM is finished. Are you going to let a guy fly into Britain for 4 days a week and throw a lot of you on to the scrap heap and you know that very soon the new posties will be starting on minimum wage, with crap pension of mminium 3/5% from employer, if lucky. On that note your do know that when you's were conned out of your DB pension and told that a new all singing all dancing pension would replace it, well that ain't going to happen and on the tiny chance that it does, the contributions from RM will be the legal minimum. Yous need to hit the streets and the union need to get better at explaining what exactly is going on with these asset stripping bastards in RMHQ.![]()

Exactly this, I've mentioned what's happening to a few in my office. Most people have never heard of this site or have any clue as to what's going on.borders wrote:Spot on, we have to be Strong to keep the vultures away. i would say this is , as a serious position as i have seen in my time in RM. If it's as bad as it's looking to be then the union needs to be sending letters to every single member right now and not 6 months down the line so we all can start asking serious questions in the office and preparring our reaction.

Ironic then isn't it, that it is the same person who effectively has subsidised the terms and conditions of all at RM with the profits made at GLS.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Aye. As militant as my heart and aching feet wish to be, this is, sadly and unfortunately, the modern and realistic truth.clashcityrocker wrote:The job and RM has been finished for a long time.
We hit the streets, the share price drops (even further), there is a hostile takeover and the company will be run by people who make Rico look like a picture of philanthropy.
This ship has sailed. Just look at how small the bylines are concerning the travesty that is the forced contract changes Asda employees are currently faced with. Tesco will be next, etcetera.... The unions have no real power at national level anymore. Just look at the fiasco of the CWU a few years back, being legally forced by RM to cancel strike action....after an 89% vote!
Unless Labour get in and keep their last manifesto pledge of renationalising RM then we have little real hope.
The money grabbing elite is coming for all our perks, contractual conditions, benefits and pensions...make no mistake about it.
Having said all that, I shall still be voting for and taking action industrial action with my fellow posties. Bring it on!
Sooner or later, a beat dog bites.

The trouble with Rico Back is he is living in the stone age he conquered the whole non unionised ie fly by night and small operators by undercutting them as much as he backs himself by deriding the share price for his own gain and reducing the dividend. But as others have found we are not for delivering his plans of the destruction and non unionisation that he espouses for that would give him a bigger hand than he already has. This man has no shame or the balls to turn up in front of us all to defend his edicts or policy a man without shame is a dangerous man for all in our nation not least the head of our nation!

Rico has always been under pressure to try and justify his grossly overpaid salary. Logistics LTD , Delivery LTD , Collections LTD , Processing LTD , International LTD as profit and loss companies - is this pure speculation or is it a plan to divide and conquer?? It does seem like deja vu with this list of demands that Royal Mail want to introduce. How on earth do they know if its workable?? For example, collapsing one walk in every six means bigger duties and more pressure on posties doing the walking, but its ok, they will be expecting us to flex an extra 30 minutes past your time for it. Personally I would rather come in to work 30 minutes early and finish 30 minutes earlier than the scheduled finish time. In other words, I would want flexibility to work for me.
Different duty sets and tasks for each office - are you having a laugh!! Royal Mail find it difficult enough getting the regular duties and IPS prepped and covered adequately. Using AHDC to reduce overtime may backfire when most staff eventually decide to start on time and leave a few loops instead of working them because they came in early and had time to prep their frames.

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
