Too big and politically important to fail?

Post by azza30 »

Labour would not allow RM to fail, obviously.

But lets take the Tories. Can you imagine a Tory MP telling his constituents in well off places, with generally lots of older people that they are happy to let RM dissappear- together with their post boxes and posties. I imagine it would cause complete uproar?

Labour would allow Royal Mail to fail, any government can only survive if people people are willing to vote for it; pouring millions, if not billions, would be not be tolerated by the public. They didn't save City Link did they? And nobody sensible would suggest they did.

Does it matter by the way? We haven't failed! Post is on the decline, terminally, in my opinion. I'm sure it won't be a thing in 15 or 20 years time. The internet and parcels however are going nowhere and will only keep growing. Job losses are certainty with the loss of post and automisation, weather it means redudancies or just nature taking it's course and people not being repaced who knows. I tend not to worry about things out of my control.
