cant believe the amount of whining about getting a SWW on this thread.
If the work cant be sorted up in time now... guess what its NOT YOUR PROBLEM - its the managers.
Its simple as that, if you cant complete now NOT YOUR PROBLEM.
Youve all been given an hour less work and effectively a payrise and STILL people moan, its pathetic.

I don't think its pathetic. Rather its a symptom of RMs underlying problem, its elephant in the room if you will. That is poor management training and a command and control ethos that they keep promising to change but never do.

im not getting that from the posts, more about how "more work, less time" and no indication of this being pressure from management. If they used this as a reason it would be entirely different, and the problem would be bullying not SWW

It's like an abusive relationship.
They keep promising to change and we keep believing that they will.

I think most people’s frustrations come from being in a DO where absolutely nothing has been done at floor level to implement the SWW, AND that office having Lino’s/DOMs not exactly approachable and supportive when it comes to traversing the lovely overrunning procedure.

I found my colleagues the most unhelpful bunch of idiots ever! They were all about looking out for themselves. Quite often the so-called BANTER was BULLYING! There are a large proportion of loud-mouthed, foul-mouthed, manipulative idiots in Royal Mail. These tend to be the manager's favourites and they tend to do his dirty work.

These sort of comments are most helpful, you know when many staff are going off work with stress and you're just basically telling people to man up and deal with it. People deal with stress in different ways. Some guys might be embarrassed to tell their manager that they are unable to extend. Others don't want the confrontation or to be badly thought of so they secretly wish their partner will say something about working past the time.
We may well have been given an hour less work and effectively a pay rise but to me all the SWW has done is create more PRESSURE on posties. The SWW is pathetic if there is no system in place that is actually going to save us the time to do the work every week!
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Some offices have gone to disagreement over the implementation of the SWW, has yours?
I would imagine in those offices if it isn't in the part-time staff won't get the rise until it's in.
If the full-time staff in your office are on 38hrs you should have it. If that's the case contact HR directly don't wait on your manager sorting it out, you'll be retired before you see it.

some people are off with stress, a lot of people just like to moan, theres systems in place if someone is struggling to complete. Facts are the more we try and fix any issues arising from SWW by rushing more, the more problems we are creating for ourselves.postslippete wrote:

In our office we have a rep who does less indoor stuff than anyone else. How can he know what it's like to be up against it if he isn't doing same as everyone else. 12 minutes means nothing if you've the spare capacity for it. The arse lickers also get less indoor work.
