Have to say we are miles behind other firms, most had this type of stuff years ago but from our point of view it's a pain in the arse with all this stuff being constantly added.

To be honest if the next door is close I try because it's actually faster than writing an entire 739 out. Depending on the kind of area I'm in, of course.30+YEARMAN wrote:If they are not in they get a card, they haven,t given me enough time to mess about with all this shite, they keep adding things on where's the extra time coming from ?.

So, we can leave it in a safeplace and take a photo, does it have to be the safeplace described on the item? What about the all too familiar note on the door asking for it to bunged in a bin or over a gate? Are we still going to be hauled over the coals if they decide we should have judged a safeplace to be 'unsafe''?

Yes, applies to tracked only and has to be on the tracked item. Even then you're not meant to leave it unsecure and can select on the PDA Safeplace not available/secure.Sir Henry wrote:So, we can leave it in a safeplace and take a photo, does it have to be the safeplace described on the item? I think the 'safe' in 'safeplace' is to be read from the RM legal team's perspective - if the customer nominates a place for the item to be left then somewhere in the Terms and Conditions they absolve RM of responsibility.postietom wrote:Quite how any place is safe if we have access to it is beyond me to be honest. That's applicable to tracked items only apparently, and the safe place must be stated on the item.
I remember when a Safeplace instruction meant a customer had to write to the DO to arrange for items to be left unattended on their property. The flipside of that convenience being that you gave up rights to complain if they went missing.
The machine stops.

So you can only leave a tracked in a safe place if it states so on the label? What about all the tracked we leave in safe places without instruction? Or what about none tracked items?
Can we still leave them?

No, and there's no 'still' about it, you were never meant to leave them.Xr4 wrote: what about none tracked items?

Paranoid much? Begs the question, what are they doing that they wouldn't want on camera? Driving naked? Doubling as a taxi cab? Picking their noses with abandon?Celgar wrote:I believe there is a lens on the current PDAs. I might make sure my hairs done now though, just in case they are watching....

So i think it's obvious they're using the PDAs to spy on you now. Course they won't say they are but they're pulling people in at our office for things like willful delay etc with no evidence. "We have no evidence to suspend you".......gotta be checking out ur route etc and if u deviate etc. This is so illegal, any thoughts?

If my PDA was recording me when it was in the cradle it would have a terrible episode of Carpool Karaoke!

Apparently you don’t have to leave the item in the requested safe place if you deem it unsafe,so the the best and safest option is to ignore any requests and bring it back to the office and then you are covered. If you leave item in requested safe place and it goes missing or the customer pulls the old denial of receipt trick them you’ll still be the fall guy

So to clarify this I have 2 Amazon items for the same address - one tracked with a safe place on it and one delivered scanned with no safe place on it (as Amazon don't give that option) - I take it I'm meant to safe place the tracked and P739 the other? Sensational stuff.NewPostieUK wrote:You shouldn't be leaving any.Xr4 wrote:So you can only leave a tracked in a safe place if it states so on the label? There's an option on the PDA 'Not delivered, safe place unsecure or unavailable.' Words to that effect, anyway.GRS wrote:Apparently you don’t have to leave the item in the requested safe place if you deem it unsafe,so the the best and safest option is to ignore any requests and bring it back to the office and then you are covered. Look at it this way. The sender has to be happy with items being left in safe places. They might be happy with one item being left but not another. . or, there could be two different senders, one who has been stung in the past and refuses to have anything they send left anywhere.
