I sent them a copy of my check that i had downloaded from dbs but they said Unfortunately we cannot accept your screenshot as confirmation of a passed security check and will need to wait for DBS to get back to us with their result before we can give you the all clear.

I then received an email saying that they have just received confirmation that you have passed your pre-employment checks so the next available start date is 29th May to attend a Welcome to Royal Mail course at Preston.

I replied to this to confirm it would be ok for me to attend but not had a formal offer confirmation email yet and my online status is still pre employment checks.
Congratulations, how much notice do you have to give? As the induction date is rather soon. Hopefully you will receive that email soon enough, please keep us updated!

Wow congratulations, I emailed them yesterday and they said they haven’t received my dbs check back yet, altho I have received mine. I thought that was quite a quick start date to jacko as I still have 3 weeks left at my current job so wouldn’t be able to have a start date of so soon

Had to give 2 weeks notice so I went into work yesterday and handed my notice in. Just hope nothing goes wrong and I get to start on the day I was given.

A question: Are the security checks the Royal Mail carry out official DBS checks that can be used elsewhere if you were to apply for a job outside Royal Mail that required a DBS certificate? Or are the checks RM carry out just for internal use only and of no use elsewhere?

The letter the dbs send you has instructions on it to set up an account and then I use the code on the letter to access it from there.

Are Royal Mail DBS checks a relatively new thing? I joined 2 years ago this May after undergoing security clearance, but I never heard anything from the DBS.

No they used to be called CRB checks. Going back to at least 2011 I think.

Thanks TBT. That's strange then. I never received anything from the DBS organisation, so I wouldn't have a reference from them to quote, should I need to check my DBS status with them. Maybe it got "lost in the post"!
