This would be an invalid ballot.

There is no way in hell of this scenario, but I do understand where your Rep is coming from, MAKE YOUR VOTE COUNT< VOTE YES BUT MOST OF ALL VOTE< VOTE > VOTE>

Exactly. There is no way this would happen, ever. But it's a good way of showing how your vote counts.

It is legal if they change the contract to make it legal.

Can they just change our contracts like that wouldn't there be a very strong case for constructive dismissal being brought into this as the majority of staff really did sign up to early start/early finish?

My reason for a no vote.
Royal Mail is now a private company meaning they can do as they please within reason, they are not a charity. It is owned by shareholders who invest in it for a return.

DB pensions theses days are dead and buried the DC offer is still good compared to most companies.

So we have to start later! Not ideal but again it's Royal Mails right to change to operational needs. At least we have time for breakfast at home before work.

Pay is the only gripe I have, I believe it should always be at least with inflation.

We have a start and finish time just do your job in between it. Don't like it leave. Welcome to the new world.

Think my point has been missed , ballot papers go to home address we make our vote in private , seal envelopes , give to union rep , name ticked off list as voted

It has to be a proper postal vote, you can't hand your ballot paper to your area rep, you need to contact your branch and make sure this doesn't happen.
That's unbelievable coming from an area rep.

The area rep doesn't want you to hand him the vote, he simply wants to see that you have voted so he can "chase up" those that haven't voted.

A sealed envelope tells him nothing anyway and whether or not you chose to vote is surely none of his business.
They do things differently down South.

Don't give RM any excuse to attempt to say the vote is invalid - vote and post it off yourself, just tell your rep you've voted - simple!
If he/she doesn't believe you - well unlucky, we're all grown ups and if anyone doesn't use their vote...words fail me.

Whether the envelopes are sealed or not, just imagine the headline:

"Voting envelopes were seen being handed to a CWU Union Rep in xxx Delivery Office - vote declared invalid!"
