Wow that is some spin. I was told that the union would fight against privatisation, but then bent over and took it up the arse like they always do.dingo wrote:First things first this has nothing what so ever to do with the CWU. Apart from the fact that the CWU got you free shares which you can sell and you get a dividend on.
This payment is linked to the shares you own and is generated to all shareholders.
It is nothing to do with how hard you work ! it what the share price is worth at that moment in time.
If you feel so strong than come November and December you can sell your shares but you will have to pay tax on them. Then you will not get the dividend each June.
Buts let be clear if the CWU had not balloted the staff over privatisation you would have not got free shares and would not have been receiving anything !

No spin the CWU fought and defeated privisation on several occasions. However this time the coalition had the numbers to force it through , so the CWU developed a plan b which is the first legal binding trade union agreement which stops the worst impact of privisation. Royal Mail wanted to franchise and outsource some parts of the industry and create a two tier work force ! They can't why because of the legal guarantees ! You keep moaning some of us will keep fighting

I think a lot of colleagues need to realise how hard the CWU has worked for us and the benefits we recieve from it.
Unfortunately not many do and we'll soon see an example of that when our CWU fought 20min PAID meal relief gets taken away from us.
That's for another day,
I do remember hearing about the Incentive scheme. From memory I think the grafters took home £30 after tax and the coffee tasters got more

Yep, for all the years I have paid my dues, I think I am entitled to a little moan now and again. Great, the union did a lot for us in the past - a privilege that we all paid for, but that doesn't excuse the current state of the outfit, which is as neutered and apathetic as it ever has been. I don't pay my current subscription for what has happened in the past - I expect my current situation to be looked after, which it isn't. The CWU is basically a subsidiary of Royal Mail now...well, except in London, which seems to receive special treatment it seems, which would explain why we have separate press releases for the pay situation in London compared to the rest of the country.
Perhaps the head honchos need to venture outside their headquarters now and again and see how vapid their representation actually is in the rest of the country?

I keep hearing this phrase "Legally Binding Guarantees" which it is said to give us some protection.
Now please correct me if I am wrong but I have heard on numerous occasions that Royal Mail can walk away from them if it effects RM performance/Business plan/ share price.

The communication is from London reps not CWU HQs. Most other senior reps do not use this site.London is not given special treatment by Royal Mail the difference is that London stands together.
In terms of your point Binsey it is not true. Royal Mail cannot walk away from the legal guarantees based on performance , business plan or share price. They can ask for a review if they cannot no longer afford to support the USO , they have severe financial problems, or there is a national strike. All of the above reasons would be argued in court.

If Royal Mail were to argue that the agreement is hampering its attempt improve efficiency and had the backing of the regulator there isn't a court in the land that would back us up dingo.
We're not mugs, the "legally binding" clauses are pretty window dressing but unless the business actually fears a row with the union and its members they are pretty meaningless. The strength of the membership is what keeps royal mail straight, not a bunch of lawyers and it's a dangerous game if hq thinks otherwise.

It's not a dividend or anything to do with the shares it's a totally different pay out... !!!
