Re: Duty Tested

Post by postslippete »

I had similar case with a previous DOM a few years ago

I told him that the duty was too big; that there were possibly too may calls and also too many packets.

He decided to get one of his lino's to prep test me by timing me and counting the number of letters on the workstation BUT it was the wrong one!! I told the buffoon testing it that it was the other delivery that needed checking before he started, but it did not make one bit of difference. This was also done on a easy Tuesday.

Now....if the DOM really wanted to know how big the delivery was, he could have got his coat on and followed me round on delivery. But none of them do in our office. Staff do the donkey work whilst managers sit in the office pontificating. And this is exactly what is wrong with the Royal Mail. A lot of our lino's were previous postmen and women in the neolithic period and have no current experience of how much deliveries have changed. So when staff ring in sick, they are like door to door salesmen, badgering everyone and anyone with overtime to get the round covered.

So what happened with the duty??

Well, they put someone else on it; problem solved!!
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
