Re: so....?
The PEC are elected by us, the members and they are seeming to forget that fact. Where the hell are the comms? These people sit in their ivory towers and make " informed" decisions on our behalf. They could at least let us know officially what is going on or have they completely lost touch like certain other senior boys in the CWU?

Re: so....?
Well time is running out for us all just hope we do not have a re ballot to contend with at this time of year things should have been sorted by now if not action is the only due course for us all to get an agreement that meets our aspirations for all.

Re: so....?
Is that a clue "action of some description", rumour of reps walking out to keep ballot alive. seems an agreement needs more time? I cannot see reps being happy with that at this late stage.dingo wrote:A lot of people are getting mixed up by the conflicting ways that the CWU report the extension dates and the way Royal Mail record the extensions.Wednesday wrote:RMTV this morning
was saying extention to 10th.
The CWU state in their LTBs that the last day that they can give the legal 7 day notice period is the 4th December thereby having to take strike action on the 10th December.
Whereas Royal Mail TV reports that the last day that the CWU can take strike action is the 10th December.
The ballot has not been extended and cannot be extended anymore. Its either a deal or it is action of some description.

Re: so....?
I realise everyone wants comms and updates. But when last weeks LTB said the pec would be meeting Monday and Tuesday that should have signalled to most that you would not be getting an update on the Monday .
Now this proposed agreement as all will see is bloody complex and detailed , is it fair for the pec to have just a few hours to read it and make such an important decision on whether it should be subject to a ballot of the members , the difficulty is that the deadline for the ballot is tomorrow. We still don't have an agreement so a lot of difficult decisions have to be made.
Unlike some on hear they have to make a call not just for the 1000 posters on here but the. 115 000 other members .
You don't have that pressure behind a keyboard and would you really know what to call ?
If we announce a strike will we get the members up for it after the delays?
If we have no deal then striking is the only option.
If we have almost a negotiators deal but have not the time to dot all the I then do we still take strike action knowing we are so close.
If we get a deal why would we still not want to ensure the ballot is live during the ballot process ?
It's easy and understandable that you all want answers but what I just outlined are the decisions which have to be made and for everyone who supports one of the options there will be others who do not.

Re: so....?
Well there are a couple of points here - would I personally know what to call - Yes it would have been the 26th, 28th of October and the 4th of November.dingo wrote:IYou don't have that pressure behind a keyboard and would you really know what to call ?

Would we get the members up for it after the prevarication - probably not, but the blame for that lies clearly at the unions door.
If we have no deal and we don't, striking is now out of the equation dingo and whatever is on the table now is what we'll have to settle for - you know the little boy who cried WOLF once too often well he got eaten up because nobody paid any attention to him just like the CWU.
I'll just bet that the RM negotiators have been well trained in massaging egos.

I missed it myself but I always was under the impression it was the victors who wrote the history so I'm expecting a deal of epic proportionsRTP wrote:Can somebody be so kind as to point me in the direction as to where it said Tuesday, because I must have missed that.

Re: so....?
How many times now have we been told we are "close to a deal"? Makes you wonder just what they have been discussing in the weeks this deal has been close...
Referencing another thread - the union will *have* to streamline pretty sharpish at this rate, what with the increasing short-term contractors being taken on, who have no interest in joining, and the old established members who must surely be contemplating abandoning a sinking ship, there won't be enough raised in fees to pay all the wages!

Re: so....?
Given the highlighted part why have they 'adjourned' why aren't they all sat round the table until they have read and digested it - we have waited long enough and been patient enough - why aren't they still in there?dingo wrote:I realise everyone wants comms and updates. Re: so....?
Simple reason is that the words of any agreement is embargoed to both the Pec and Royal Mail senior directors until there is an agreement. Only the negotiators are in receipt of the words at this moment.

Re: so....?
if it is a complicated deal then it can't be a good deal IMHO .... I feel the union will try to shaft the membership again ala 2007 & 2009 ... if that is the case expect a exodus from the Union including reps like myself ... the membership will not stand for another betrayal and it will be the death of the union .... you are here to represent the membership and not yourselves .... remember that we pay your wages and not Amazon or Royal Mail

Re: so....?
I find it unbelievable that Royal Mail senior directors wouldn't know what was being negotiated, but it seems believable that senior Union Officials don't. As everybody in the union seems to kept in the dark.dingo wrote:Simple reason is that the words of any agreement is embargoed to both the Pec and Royal Mail senior directors until there is an agreement. Re: so....?
If the PEC don't have it yet and it's very complex even assuming they get it at 0900 tomorrow they'll have at best eight hours to digest the thing and come to a decision on our next move.dingo wrote:Simple reason is that the words of any agreement is embargoed to both the Pec and Royal Mail senior directors until there is an agreement. That's assuming an agreement even exists by 0900 tomorrow.
Not the smartest way to do things is it?
