HELP!! Manager trying to take overtime back off us!!!

I cut off today as I was put on a round I've never done before and in an area I don't know and on the busiest day of the week. I didn't tell anyone before I left that I might not be able to complete as I was told is was 'nice and easy' and looking at the frame it did look straightforward. So should you inform a manager every time you do a new round that you might not be able to complete even if you think you can? I expect I'll probably get a rollocking tomorrow.

What is happening to you is a pure case of bullying and harassment and the DOM not carrying out company procedures. I suggest that in the first instance you discuss this with the local unit rep. and ask him to arrange a meeting whereby he accompanies you to discuss with the DOM that he is bullying you and you want a categorical response from the DOM that he will discontinue his bullying, that he will follow company/cwu procedures and that he will pay you any overtime pay that has been discussed with him prior to you leaving the unit for delivery.
If the DOM fails to agree to this or fails to agree to a meeting then you notify him IN WRITING that you are taking out a bullying and harassment claim for the way you have been treated, and a grievance for his failure to follow company guidelines. Notify him that you will be going straight to stage 2 of the grievance procedure and lodging this with his line manager the DSM. You are also notifying Moya Greene of his attitudes on the askmoya email link. Also notify him that any failure to pay you overtime that has been previously agreed will be dealt with under the Small Claims Court procedures.
Good Luck. Whatever happens do not back down, you are in the right. Dont be scared of him, you are better than him.

No I didn't notify anyone whilst out on delivery as the only managers number I have is on holiday. I did however, tell a manager when I returned and show him the pouch of mail I couldn't deliver and explained why.

If you informed the manager when you got back, then you should be fine, because you could argue the fact that you have had no training on that round or just say you got lost , seriously tho you should have at least one day training before a new round, to inform you of dangers like dogs etc, also i do rural rounds and if i never had training i wudnt know where half the farmers have their mail lol, some have it put in the milk shed, some on the kitchen table, i even have one who has his mail put in a hole in a brick wall because he has no letter box lol!!

As for me i am taking all your advise and no backing down, its about time somebody stopped his bullying, he has got away with far to much already, he even threw a PDA across the office one day and nearly hit some innocent bystander and nobody said anything to him, !
Ive had an email back from Moya and she is looking into the overtime and attitude issues for me, she is going to contact his senior management and be back in contact with me with a reply as quickly as possible , so im happy the ball is rolling, but i am preparing my self for the back lash off him when he finds out, i suppose he will be on my case now all the time,

I know its really bad isn't it, i think the problem is the fact we are in a small rural area, about 50 members of staff and he is the only manger there so is a mini hitler to everyoone because he thinks he can get away with it, it was only when i went on loan to a larger city office i realized how different our office is run and how much he gets away with, if he was in a larger office he would have been long gone ages ago, ohh and i forgot to mention this manger came to our office because he had been done for harassment in another office, so had to move!

He reminds me of a dom I used to have. The problem is because he bullys people into doing o/t and then steals it back etc, he probably stays within budget and hits all his performance targets. His boss won't care how he's achieving it as it means that his boss won't be giving him grief. The bullying culture is sent down the layers of management until it reaches us at the bottom. You can then accept it and become a victim or fight back. I accepted it for a time but it got too much and got the union involved. I eventually transferred to another office where the atmosphere is much better.

Slippery, he is now going to react in one of two ways. He will either back off or he will be gunning for you. Under no circumstances agree to any conversations with him or discuss the situation in any way unless you are either attended by your local rep or by a colleague who you can trust. You are entitled to representation at all times. If you have a phone with a voice recorder on it I would personally turn it on, but be careful how any recordings are used. Do not have any INFORMAL discussions with him, make sure everything is on the record.
