If it wasn't for Vince Cable objecting, then this would not have come to light. He is one MP who seems to be in touch with the common man. When we go over by an hour then overtime payment is queried and budgets are examined as to whether the company can afford to pay us. The rhetoric emanating from the top management just goes to prove they are all on the gravy train, just like a element of MP's, as the expenses scandal has proved over the few years.

Vince Cable is not in touch with the common man, not by a long shot. He may have been at one, and I repeat MAY, but he has been on the gravy train for far too long and has suffered no financial hardship like the working class have during this rather lengthy recession, which shows no real sign of abatement. If anything, his own earnings have probably rocketed, don't know about his 'working' life, but if he's like the rest, it's probable he has 1 or 9 highly paid directorships/non-executive board positions.

It is possible he objected to this because it would have been revealed at some point anyway, maybe someone did spot it, and he decided to pre-empt any scandal by displaying outrage.

Maybe it's all just PR, to improve his standing with the public, to try and help convince us he knows what he's doing in privatising RM. After the Lib Dems recent track record whilst in office, I certainly don't trust him, or his party, and never will. The first whiff of power, and they all sold their souls, and you can see it in some of their faces when they appear on TV to discuss something/issue a statement about something they feel is wrong, deep down.

I think it would have come to light eventually, as it must appear in the accounts in some form, though maybe not described as the funds were used.

I find it strange that she only has to pay back the amount that she got in hand. In our office in Canada when she was in charge overpaid a number of us Postie's for several months before it was discovered that a Supervisor had improperly imputed our hours and had in fact changed our hours giving us two and three hours Overtime from then on. We had informed them about it but they were not smart enough to track it down and finally when one received Overtime while on holidays it became clear to us and insisted that it be fixed and we suggested that they start with our daily allotment and then it was discovered. Big hassle and they wanted all the money's (including all deductions) back at once even thou our contract only allows 10% of each cheque until recovered. Double standard for Moya it seems.

We're slogging our guts out on a daily basis, many of us, myself included, having to go through the pain barrier, doing rounds that are simply too big, and spending far too much time outside in all extremes of weather, never, ever, given a fair crack of the whip......And what for? A pittance.

And yet, this scum government imports a Canadian scumbag to do the next best thing to absolutely fark-all, and pay the bitch a small fortune that would take us many, many lifetimes to come even near.
