assuming this is true (and i have no reason not to), why are the union not letting the media know that RM will not be trying to resolve this till Monday at the earliest?

Done deliverys for 15 years and my brother is still on them and loves the p&l as he now has a new van instead waiting for his bags to be delivered to him. Not every one hates there job

Yes I like the change I made but to be honest it was only because the early starts and wanted nights but brother likes the early finish so he can do his other job in afternoon

I know from our delivery office, which gets it's mail from P'boro Werrington, that DOM's don't work Saturdays. Something to do with football apparently

The dispute at Werrington Royal Mail (Peterborough North) was still ongoing on Saturday, 6 July, with enthusiastic support from a crowd of around 100 strikers on the green just down the road from the depot entrance.

Andy Beeby, CWU branch chair, explained that the disciplinary action taken by management the previous morning against one of their members was considered by the CWU to be outside the normal agreed procedures; and that this had then led to an immediate walkout by the CWU membership.

There had been many hours of talks the previous day, including with CWU divisonal representatives, but no settlement.

Talks were expected to be resumed on Monday 8 July and the CWU was remaining firm. Cheers came from the membership as a large lorry entered the depot (at the end of a narrow cul-de-sac) solely to turn round and then leave the depot without stopping to load or unload

Talks are taking place in an attempt to resolve a wildcat strike at a Cambridgeshire sorting office that has entered its fourth day.

About 170 staff walked out of the Werrington office in Peterborough on Friday morning, according to the Communication Workers Union (CWU).

The unballoted strike was triggered by disciplinary action against one member of staff.

Royal Mail said it was fully committed to trying to resolve workers' concerns.

The sorting office covers deliveries in the PE1 and PE3 to PE6 postcode areas.

Andy Beeby, branch secretary for CWU, said delivery and sorting staff were involved in the strike.

In a statement, the company apologised to customers, adding: "We are doing all we can to minimise this disruption."

"Royal Mail is fully committed to the process of trying to resolve concerns of postal workers based in Peterborough by continuing to follow the national jointly agreed framework with the CWU," it added.

Pe meant to start back with the deliveries shift in the morning. Not sure the delivery lads were happy with the outcome so watch this space.
