Good question. I suggest the OP asks that of their manager, especially if they smoke.
My own manager goes for a fag break 2 or 3 times an hour, then moans at me if I'm so much as 1 minute late for anything.

our gaffers are even worse....they all have more breaks than Jimmy White.
It's funny isn't it?
How we get repeatedly berated for doing X, but whenever managers do it, it doesn't apply. They are above reproach in such things.
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.

an often overlooked part of the Way Forward agreement is that you entitled to a ten minute unscheduled grace relief.

It doesn't say anything about been able to leave the premises to take it though
But if you're nipping across the road, give it a try and ask for any refusal for this break to be put in writing

According to the TUC there is no specific legal right or human right to be able to use the loo in company time - so if they ask you to put your hand up and request a complimentary loo visit that is within their right.

However they can not stop you going whenever or how often you want/need to. What they could do is 'not pay you' for the time you are away from duties by telling you to make the time up at end of shift.
