just lke we all did for the 2010 deal we had them then and the union shat it not the members the top guys and they ll shite on us again who we gona turn to to stopprivitasation when all mps are for it were screwed anyway

The sad thing was the membership shat on themselves as a considerable amount (40%?) didnt even bother casting a vote on the BT2010 ballot.There is a disconnect within the CWU and unless the members hold the branch to account and the branch holds HQ to account then things will play out as before.

One thing that doesnt change is the fact that business and industry rely on the postal service that Royal Mail provide and if the union is solid and organised then they have a considerable amount of clout.With the current leaderships track record thats looks unlikely but not impossible.

The union members were solid, RM were brought to the negotiaton table..... then the CWU bottled it, they accepted RM's view of the industry, called off the strike and then said that it was the best deal that they could get. RM were laughing all the way to the bank. And WE have paid the price.

As for the voting, well reps were encouraged by the Billy & Dave roadshow to accept the deal and to encourage the membership to do the same.

Now it's all gone pear-shaped they want us to do it all over again !

Just pointing out that they didnt even need a majority of members to get a yes vote.why did so many members not even bother voting? and which way would they have voted? Most people I speak to about possible IA say they wont consider it unless theres a list of clear demands and they know exactly what the road ahead looks like.They certainly dont want a leadership that will fold for any old deal.

That's the feedback i'm getting.
Nothing vague involving industrial democracy or selling out for seats on the board and definitely not concentrated on the pay settlement.
Workloads,management intimidation and job security seem to be the only thing of any interest to the members so we'll see if HQ agrees.

Well people in my office don't seem at all interested in IA, in fact they don't seem to be interested in union affairs at all Nothing seems to faze them - I haven't the faintest idea how the union could galvanize them into action. They seem to be accepting that privatisation is a done deal and have no fight in them. It might help if the branch sent people down to speak to them to outline how important it is to support the union BUT the reasons for that support would have to be compelling in the extreme.
