I find if you put the PDA in the front pocket of your bag, right at the front, with nothing pressing on it whatsoever, with the screen locked, it won't click. This of course doesn't work if you have to keep whipping the PDA out for signers every 5 doors.
Worse still is when your PDA doesn't have a strap (or worse, no strap and no stylus) and you have a PDA, a bundle of mail, a pen, a notice left card, and a packet to hold all at once. 5 items and two hands is a combination that doesn't work.
It drives me nuts.

The PDA's were not designed to be used by walking deliveries.
Not in flats,in loops from the van or whether it has a strap or not.
They weigh almost half a kilo.
