For a postie they have the same effect. But to managers and office twonks there is a difference.

A Lapse is a planned collapse of a duty that is shared around the office.
An Absorption - is an unplanned collapse of a duty caused by an absence.

Agree on the Lapse... but I always thought that Absorbtion was defined somewhat differently


In that to Absorb ; they take a round and add segments on to others ....' because you have time' and then it becomes a perm addition ... and therefore 'part' of your duty

Think of it like this ....

Your manager brings you two bundles of mail from Sharples Street and says "There is too much mail on there this week- I want you to deliver it to Bogsworthy Crescent, Dalmatian Drive and the block of flats at the end of Rainbow Road, it doesn't matter if it isn't for that area - just do as you're told and deliver it"

Now, forgive me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that DTD items were to be treated as live mail, allocated to a certain area and with a time scale for delivery - so why are we allowing the managers to tell us to deliver it to the wrong place at the wrong time .... now THAT IS wilful delay at best and fraud at worst. Get the union onto this as soon as possible because it appears to be the latest bit of sleight of hand in more than one office.

This must be wrong surely?!.... Excess door to doors should be taken out and delivered all over again until there are none left in the office, even after, already delivering them once and only getting the one payment.. This has come from the manager of the office, is this a case for the union.

Interesting one from the DOM this morning. Each delivery was given 30 of last weeks surplus D2D items and told to deliver them to our first 30 stops. These addresses had either received the D2D last week or weren't due to receive this D2D. The reason given was there was too much surplus and offices aren't allowed to return more than 1% of the D2D's at the end of the week. Anyone ever heard of anything like this?

Get the union onto it asap, we did! Guess who's not doing them now!!!!?
