2 managers per office, one for mornings, one for afternoons on rotating shifts, 1 Dom to cover 2-3 offices

Smaller rural offices could cope with a supervisor, and a Dom could have 4 or 5 of these on his patch

That would reduce costs by at least a third overnight.

All they need do then is employ some school leavers on a quarter of the money to move empty yorks around all morning.

We have 3 sections with 3 lino's plus DOM and office manager? Lino's do chip in on IPS never seen the other two do any work they just stand at end of IPS isle looking mean.

No idea what any of them do when we leave office but theres only one left when we get back.

Why stop at the DOMs?

I wonder how many of you really do appreciate how pants the deal is for PT, especially those on 22.5 hours or even less? They come in everyday, knowing that completing their round within contracted hours is dicey, but more often than not needing o/t to complete, getting begged by managers to do cut-offs afterwards. The same faces, regular as clockwork, are easily doing enough o/t to at least have one step up in their contracted hours (eg. 22.5 to 25 or even 30) which will bring with it better holiday pay and sick pay.

Yet the P&L revision arrives, which if anything is likely to make things worse (more o/t going), yet management will not offer improved written contracts to those who want to do an honest days work for an more honest days pay.

This little nugget was taken from the Reps Briefing prior to the ballot on industrial action:

• A No vote will give the company the green light to turn Royal Mail into a part-time industry

Well it did get a YES vote, quite rightly so of course, but has it changed RMs recruitment policy at all? No new starter, certainly in my office, has ever been recruited on a full time contract. Some part timers have received full time contracts BUT only temporary NOT substantial. As for the much vaunted 75/25 split, who knows what it is now and who exactly is monitoring it? - certainly not Royal Mail and most probably the CWU hasn't queried the makeup of the staff, or if they have they are keeping the details to themselves.
